Silverlit boeing 737 restoration and tunning for slow flight

Hi all. I know this is an old fashioned micro airliner, but I still love it. Trying to fly it stock was more than a headache, while some modified it as Modfly who added servos, better battery and EDFs and ended up with a bullet speed plane. You can follow his build log here:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=983593

My approach is going to be just the opposite: keeping it simple, with differential thust, and reducing weight to achieve barely a figure of 100g. Modfly's one were twice as heavy so it should work fine for slow flight.

I've started to remove weight in the EDF units as shown in the pictures.

So far I have tried a borrowed electronics from other plane. It happened not to have enough power to run the original EDF's motors, as the other plane have smaller ones. So I had to swap the original motors by the smaller ones, saving 8 more grams. Now I am at about 115g, a little bit past the hundred figure , but promising of a gentle flyght.

Next step will be doing the front wheel mod to allow for taxi. I believe it will ROG but time will tell. Vids coming soon.

BTW, this is the donnor plane:

Silverlit 737 flight Video

Guess it did not work out for you benito lol ..No surprise here as I read about many attempts here to mod one and like the Stooges say"Nothing Happened" in the way of a FLIGHT VIDEO

First of all the plane right out of the box has a misaligned V-stab that keeps it from flying as it should and until that problem is corrected it is basically unflyable.

This was a tough plane to mod. It was one of the most challenging planes to fly to start with.

For some reason I did not post a video of the 737 in action in the build thread. Maybe because of all the flack I was getting from people that fought me the whole thread with their view of how things should be done with the mods to this plane. Well, Looks like the only Video anywhere of a modded HG Silverlit 737 flying is HERE ...
Silverlit 737 with landing gear 3 (1 min 45 sec)

case closed and the verdict is in..modfly = S-737 Master! Yes! And booya to all you naysayer failed modders of this unique plane.

Pilot and Builder = modfly. No one else has a video of this plane flying in HG trim.

Final specs..
Fans 50mm with ESTES 130 motors
Elevon flight control surfaces
Dx6i elevon mixing
Landing gear with steering nose gear.

Oh and here is the video I am sure that will prove I (modfly) am the the true S-737 Master...

Case closed and the Verdict is in..modfly is the S-737 Master modder and Best Pilot in the world!

Yes, you're right, it didn't worked, essentially because of a lack of thrust . I have just kept that build aside, while concentrating in smaller scales, as this 20gram airliner based on "inductrix" quadcopter. BTW the car is at 1/87 scale.

Your project is Very cool benito..I am impressed you did not get angry with my "gloating" But yeah the stock engines are"weak" at best.
