Nice to know there are more options if a more smooth throttle response, also in the lower revs area, is needed.

Silly as it sounds at first, you may want to consider a brushed setup. You get the same exceptional slow speed characteristics as a sensored brushless setup, but at a much cheaper price. Brushed motors are waterproof by nature too. There's a reason most rock crawlers use brushed systems...

Not a silly idea, but the 45A HK ESC and apparently the 30A as well, also offer excellent low rev control, almost as good as sensored.

Hello,
I buyed this truck for my child, but often I use this beautiful mini truck

With a 2S the truck is very funny; but I tried the 3S lipo on stock setup ... and it is a drug

But I noticed that after 2-3 min of running (not full speed and with many stops) the motor and ESC became very hot.
Does anyone tried whit a 3S lipo?

I am planning also to change the ESC and motor with this 2:
HK B2040 Motor
HK 45A ESC
but I am not sure it could help to use 3S setup without burning the motor (for the ESC I think there is no problem, but the motor?)

3 cell is too much for this car if you want it to last, not only the motor and ESC but gearing differential etc will wear out faster.
Stick to 2 cell and have time to cool down between sessions.

I am loving the Beatle! Me and a mate have one each t bash and have been a lot of fun (if a little fragile) although it's only broken on big flips or impacts but I am slowly upgrading broken parts to alloy which should help

Hi

I bought a Monster Beetle recently and my ESC has already failed. I'm new to RC cars and need some advice...

I ordered this one as a replacement:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...s_Car_ESC.html

Is it a good choice?

And is 1100cSt shock oil a good choice for this model?

I also ordered a couple spur gears as I read here they wear out quickly.

What other improvements do you recommend for this car?

Above is what I replaced mine with, it does not even get warm let alone hot like the stock one did.
Your choice should be fine too.

I bought 5 spur gears lol, I never used even one yet!

I made a small increase in hole size in each shock to soften up the ride a little.
On road its great as is, nothing else changed.
Tyres and shocks are not great on grass but depends what you are doing if you are after off road racing performance or jumps then softer tyres would be good.
But the advantage of the stock tyres is they never wear out!
