Temp Sensor Errors

Hi Andy,

The Temp sensor on one of my aircraft started to play up last weekend. You can see in the attached data file. There are some obviously good readings where the temp goes up to about 100deg C as expected from previous flights, but there are also a lot of data points in the 300 to 500deg C range !!

So, I would really like to know what caused them and how I can fix the problem.

Could it be caused by an open circuit in the temp sensor ?

A short circuit in the temp sensor ?

A nick in the heatshrink allowing it to touch the metal of the motor head ?

We don't have time during competitions to download the data and look at it, just a quick look at the maximums on the Transmitter screen after landing to see if there are any signs of problems. Not much help when it says 514deg C !!

The installation is on a 20cc glow motor. The sensor is on/in the gap between the top and second top cooling fins on the head, on the exhaust port side of the motor. A small amount of glue has been used on the wires each side of the sensor to hold it to the fins (without blocking them) so it hopefully does not move with vibration and chafe the heat shrink over the temp sensor.

I actually seem to be getting a similar problem with a 55cc petrol engine installation, though it is not as bad yet. Can send the data file for that one as well if it would help.

Thanks,
Jag

I have purchased a lot of telemetry gear (GPS, altimeter, RPM, External Voltage, TM1100/1000) for my gliders over the years which I find extremely useful at the slope.

I now want to view & analyse the logs once at home and find it a little amazing that Spektrum haven't yet produced software to view this data. I for one would be more than ready to pay for supported software.

I am aware of two viewers (one payware and one freeware) but I have had trouble using both. The viewer's efforts are highly commendable but I would far prefer to have a Spektrum supported piece of software that will work with all Spektrum logged data. (I do not own (or want to own) an iPhone btw).

Surely Spektrum is the logical company to produce such software ?

Kind regards,

Mike

www.robo-software.com - that's the one we use. The author is part of Team Horizon Hobby. He gets updates to the header files to use in his system - that's how we support it.
