Question
Neu 1107/1.5Y/P29

I would like some suggetions for this motor/gearbox. Specifically, what are some prop/battery combinations? I'm looking for something in the 500 watt range. I'm using a CC Edge Lite 75 ESC. I would like to stay with a 3 cell battery.

Thanks!!

Dave

Hi Dave

I don't have one of these but here is an answer I cut out from a previous Don Harban post. Maybe he will respond to your question too.

"From Don Harban

On my Maxa I am using a Neu 1107-1.5Y with a P32 6.7:1 gearbox. Battery is a TP 4S 850 65C. Prop (right now) is an Aeronaut 14x9 mounted on a Vladimir hub. Weight of motor, gearbox and battery is 9.1 ounces. The plane (servos in tail) balances without any tailweight. Plane launched to 200 meters into about 10 mph wind 150 meters out in 17 seconds. 2300 vertical fpm. Input wattage was about 650. I like this motor because I can go to a 3S 1300 battery and a larger prop (17x13) and probably get a little more efficiency without adding any weight."

I am going to be using one of these on my Stork 6 f5J. Planning on using a 16x10 or 17x10 TP850 3s 70c CC ice lite 75

Thanks, Tommy and Fred. I tried the 16X10 and a 1300 70C and was seeing only 400W input on a fully charged battery. I'm not sure of the efficiency, but not nearly enough output power. I have smaller props to try with a 4 cell and I may try the 17X13 with my 3 cell as Don suggested.

Thanks again!

Dave

Lol...I checked it out on the Neu calculator, and it's pretty limp until it gets on step... Looks like 26 miles per hour before it kicks in.

might be fun to try in some spare time.

Fred,

Mine is a different wind, 1.5Y. I think the 2Y is 3100 kV and mine is either 3850 or 4100.

Thanks for the offer, Kenny. I hope to have it ready to go before I see you at the PC. Only a little over 2 months to go!!

Yeah, I am running it with the 17x13 on a 1300 3S pack. This is a nice package that will launch the plane with full ballast, give you time to hunt at low speed if you want and still get to 200 meters in time. I do recommend the 1300 pack over the 850 in this application, especially in warm weather because you will be heating the 850 a bit too much in my opinion.

Happy Landings,

Don

Thanks, Don. I have the plane balanced with the 1300 3S. I will just have to shift it slightly aft when I go to the 17X13 prop. I'll let you know how it goes. See you in a couple of months.

I'm using a Hacker A-50 4:4:1 into a 60 amp controller with a 900 mil battery. It swings a 18x10 prop at 38 amps.

This combo weighs in at 2 oz more than my sailplane. This is a Tragi 801
