[QUOTE=xStatiCa;27802234]I am looking at my DLG on the wall knowing there are winds at 12mph gusting to 18mph which I am way too chicken to get the DLG out in.
Man you should get out in those winds, it's a totally different way of flying.
We have around 13mph on an average day gusting upwards, trade winds!
It's fun, but very challenging to catch thermals, you surf the wind alot too, and hand catching is a no no in these winds, you just land it next to yourself, or flypast yourself then go into camber and milk the flapperons and elevator and fly backwards and almost hover down to the ground next to yourself.
Try it, sometime, launch with about 1mm of reflex into wind, then tack off at about 30 degrees right or left and watch for the DLG leveling out, once it does flip into flatbottom wing (no reflex, no camber)and do a turn left or right, as you just hit lift.
Then just work that lift downwind as far as you are comfortable.
If she doesn't level out go into flatbottom and turn downwind and see if you catch anything, if not just come back and re-light or come in and go into camber and surf the wind on approach and see what lift you can pick off.
Give it a try some time
