funjet ultra motor selection

I am looking for advice on selecting a motor for my funjet ultra. I am using ezuhf and 1.3 video on it. I would like to run it on 4s but if I can get more flight time out of a certain motor on 3s, that is ok. I want a motor that gives a little more flight time at the cost of speed. is there a motor that would get me 10 min+ out of this air frame with fpv gear if flying conservatively? I want to get some time under my belt with this airframe before putting my dr madthrust inrunner in it.

I think you should put your madthrust inrunner on it at the expense of having a heavier than useful motor weight and buy a lower voltage battery instead of a different motor. When you are ready to make the leap to 6s lipo go for it, but for now run 4s. Ten minutes sounds reasonable.

Its the big madthrust 3000kv. I'm not sure I am comfortable with that much weight and having to land at a fairly high speed. Do you think it will be alright for my first experience with a plane that will do over 80mph?

Oh 3000 kv. OK don't run 6s on that motor, lol!
A "small" but reasonable funjet motor will still weigh a good 100 grams or so and a big fast motor will weigh close to 200 grams.

Your fast setup will want to gobble a good 80 amps or so on you (and require a heavy esc) and according to my math at the absolute very least you would need in amp hours is a 2.7ah 30c battery or 2ah 40c battery.

I predict a "slow" setup will want to eat something like 35amps or so. So you can get away with as small as 1.17 ah (if such a thing exists) @ 30c which will be fairly light.

I predict you can save a good 140grams or so by using a smaller esc and motor but you can very easily shave off more than 140grams in battery weight with a lower cell count lower amperage setup maybe as much as 250 grams or so.

You still won't gain a whole lot in endurance but this will work nicely to train you up for your fast setup.

What size and kV would be a good slow motor? Out runner I'm guessing?

If you are really going to push for light weight I bet something as small as the 50 gram D2826-6 and your 3s 2200 could push a Funjet around, but you will have more fun with a larger motor.

Something that will push it between 75 and 100mph would be fine.
