They shouldn't be charging for something that should have been included from the start. Other radios in the same class had dedicated sailplane programming.

If the DX8 doesn't have sailplane programming, then how can one say that it is in the same class as sailplane radios.

Same reasoning as a lot of other products being advertised as "new and improved" when they now come in a less concentrated form and, perhaps, even in a smaller package. But, the new and improved package sure looks flashier...

No sailplane program but the acro can give you:
4 flap wing
flaps+ elev comp,
crow+ elev comp,
Elevator to snapflaps+ the ailerons go as the snap flaps,
flaps go with ailerons,
3 flight modes: flaps+ ailerons with elev comp.
Aileron / rudder mix
Towcoupling

Enough for the most people
What more do you need.
?

Even a TX with glider programing need to be programed..

Then its not a glider...

On my Epsilon I got:
Glide / 30 degree Flaps / 50 degree flaps + crow on the flight mode switch.
Thottle on the stick.+ elev comp.
Termal setting: 3 mm down flaps/ 2 mm down aileron on the gear switch
Snapflaps
All wing ailerons.
Elev comp on all
Aile/ rud.

Perhaps I will go for the flaps on the thottle stick as you describe

Epsilon first flight. (2 min 26 sec)

Cheers

Nice!
But my issue with my radio is somewhat different, and not too long ago I posted this: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...ostcount=20615

A firmware upgrade for the sailplane/glider functionality is well worth the estimated $30, and just what I was asking for in that very post.

BTW: don't you think a F5B ship is a glider???? What would you call it, then?

If it's a ship then I'd call it a vessel.

Since I fly mostly powered plane I don't like to use the throttle for flap and crow. So I use my left slider to set it up. Now a days I almost never use flaps prefering to use crow with elevator mixing.

What is it that you do on the sliders?

Winged shadow. I use with both spectrum and hitec and it works great for me.
Glad to see the glider programming.

Is there going to any documentation for the DX8, regarding setting up sailplanes?
Thanks,
