Lacasse Cabinet

I recently acquired a lacasse stainless steel office cabinet.

I took a bare battery and touch the leads to the cabinet, no sparks or shorts so its good for contact. I plan to keep my lipos in the bottom drawer. I was wondering if anyone knew if these cabinets are flame proof and would be a good storage option for lipos. I looked on their site but I can't find anything about fire etc.

I don't know why you did not get sparks, but stainless steel IS conductive.

If they were to ever ignite, it might be best to use the top drawer for you lipos or else everything stored above the bottom drawer could be damaged.

Most likely is just powder coated steel. I don't think anyone makes SS files. Lacasse probably just OEMs it from one of few file manufacturers in the States.

The powder coating might have provided some insulating qualities but I wouldn't count on it.

If it were flame proof it would be really, really heavy.

I don't know. I once had a motorcycle frame powder coated; forgot to mask the shock mounts and had one heck of a time trying to get the coating back off. A lot more work than just casual storage use.

Be advised that the smoke from burningLiPolys is exremely corrosive thus anything stored with them will be damaged if even only one goes themal.
