Down in Flames

It was a beautiful flying day yesterday and my son and I head out as usual with a packed truck. I guess it was too nice of weather with no crazy high cross winds but I got totally distracted by my son and planted my Albatros at the end of the runway! 100% pilot error on my part, and first serious crash in years. She got tore up pretty bad, I think foam is repairable but will need new wing struts and landing gear. I guess it is worth it to put her back together, nothing out there right now that interests me.

Always sorry to hear about a crash. Especially on the Albatros. It's the one I dread crashing the most -- with so many possible breaking points. Even landing on rough grass, I can alsways see the wings flopping around...

Plus...I never installed the four screws under the wing! Only have two installed.

Who needs wing screws??!!

I like living and flying on the edge!!

No, just kidding... I actually never noticed after flying it for quite some time now... I know that after assembly, I had to take the bottom wing off for some reason -- maybe I just overlooked re installing those four... Then, the other day was taking it flying, and saw the missing screws. Thought I would just install them at the field... But never did. Has flown fine without -- or better yet -- I have somehow been able to control it even with these parts missing...

Maybe I'll install the four screws, and it will fly even better...

"So, this is what they are talking about! It does fly nice"

Lol. Somehow my limited skills have keps it airborne without these (Crutial?) parts...

It might be better without the screws as it allows your wings to flex a bit more as the wing root is where it tends to crack...dunno...

It's a Mod! The NSWM "no screw wing mod!"

Maybe that's why my wings flop around with every bump in the landing strip...

They are about to fall off!!

just a thougbt

I always assemble the lower wing with clear GE silicone II , as a gap filler and removable adhesive. It will hold the lower wing without any screws. And and easily be cut with a flexible hobby knife. If you need access to servo bay or receiver .
