Our techs are working on a solution to this. Our mods constantly monitor the site for spam and reports of spam. Unfortunately they do sleep at night so there will be spam to clean up in the mornings. Thanks for the links.
Another option is to report the spam using the report button.

As I said Jim the report button is not really an option because you can only report one post every 60 seconds. That means if there's 5 spam messages I have to spend 5 minutes to report them. Why not have an actual flat out "SPAM/Garbage" category that has like a 10 second counter and possibly even if enough people report it as such it automatically gets moved or something?

We are working on that.

Spam is still bad and I can still only report a post every 60 seconds. I thought you were going to change that timer! You claim you are working on it but nothing has changed.

I know how much you hate spam. RCG now has a full time employee that looks for spam and spam reports 3 times a day (probably more often than that). The problem is that this employee does sleep so there is no spam removal during the night, but rest assured each morning our spaminators are rushing in to clean up the messes made by mindless spammers. I also check for spam reports each morning and during the day.

Some spam reporting tips:
- You only have to report a spammer once. If that user has 16 spams we will see it and take care of it.
- Don't post "reported" in the spammers thread. All you have to do is report the spam using the report button.
- Don't get upset if you wake up to spam. Spam is like taxes, it's going to happen whether we like it our not. Simply report the spam and let the mods take action.

We have a team of hardcore coders working on a plethora of features for the site. One of my pet projects for them is making spam reporting easy.

Keep up your anti spam stance Grimbeaver. Hopefully we will have a better way for you to report spam in a rapid fire fashion soon. We appreciate your efforts.

These are all done with unique new accounts so your suggestion of only needing to report once doesn't really apply. Perhaps you should limit the number of new accounts that can be created by an IP in a certain time period. I'm suggesting this on the assumption they are actually coming from the same IP. Sadly they are also sometimes getting more crafty with their thread titles to disguise them too.

Here we are, almost 5 months later, and still no progress on preventing the SPAM...

I checked on the request this morning and it is pending. Changes like this are usually grouped with similar requests and then they are released on a predetermined date. I have added that requests for upgrading the way spam is reported is still an issue being brought up by our users. Thank you for your patience.

The 60 second wait has now been shortened to 10 seconds. I hope that helps.

If you are doing something why don't you come join this thread instead of sitting quietly on the sidelines. Face the users you expect to do the work for your mods by reporting all the spam.
