brushless setup for a 32" scale boat

Hello! Looking for advise on what people are using for brushless setups on scale boats. I build my own fiberglass hulls, which are not built for speed. They are of a lobster boat style, not of the fast maine style but a larger boat with more draft. The last one i built was 32"x12" and used a dumas 12volt motor direct drive with a 2 1/2" wheel which made it go about a walking pace. I am in the process of making another hull same style but i would like for this one to get up on plane. I am just starting to learn about using brushless but from what i gather i should be looking for a kv rating from 700-1000 and run 6-7.2 volts? Also does it need to be water cooled? I am trying to stay as cheap as possible also. Any input appreciated! I attached a picture of the hull i am trying to replicate

I run a 35-48 900kv NTM propdrive outrunner motor with a 2" prop on my 36" lobster boat on 9.9 volts, more than enough power to get on plane.
Can we get a few more pics of your hull? I make a few downeast style lobster boat hulls myself.

nice! I will put up a picture when i get home from work. So your motor does not get hot enough to worry about water cooling? what about your esc?

The motors just fine with no water cooling, it doesnt see a ton of wide open time. I do run the watercooling on the esc mostly because it has the tube, I use Hobbywing Seaking 120 amp escs so they are way more than enough.

I would also do water cooling for the esc. Would this one work with the 900kv ntm?

Is it just me or does the hull in the picture look a lot more of a displacement type than a planing type hull? Not sure how fast you will be able to push the water aside with that shape. But it is always fun to try....

Your right its not exactly built for planing, however there is a few of these hulls here where i live that are around 50-55ft long and 20 foot wide and with close to 1000hp they will plane out and do over 20kts. Quite spectacular to see actually.

I know how to do it but I dont think I can explian it well enough for someone to learn. If you have the experience with fiberglass its not super hard but is fairly time consuming. I make my molds in 1 part so I dont have to deal with a seam and they dont have a flange so I grind them down and pop finished parts.
