Looks like you have it well planned out.

Curious why you chose that flight controller, it's a fair controller from what I've heard but I've also heard that it was lacking in several aspects. I don't have one so I didn't dwell on the data and can't remember what was said. I've been sticking with using the K-Bar as I found it easy to set up and very reasonable in price.

Any thought to the receiver?

It should be a very nice flying helicopter when it's all said and done.

Picked ZYX S2 cuz I already have one.
It's on my V450D03. And I found setup very easy. And as far as my skills let me tell, it holds very well. It's very stable.
Probably will hook up sat receiver straight to ZYX. Thinking of one of hk orange sat receiver.

I've just ordered the lemon 6ch plus sat from ebay £18.99 for my build.
servos for cyclic came today aswell as a new tail rotor connector can't wait to carry on with build.
it's my 1st one and using the same zyxs2 as u.
it's a second hand model but I enjoy tinkering so I'm rebuilding it

Edited first post - added satellite receiver and converter for ZYX S2.

Got all parts now.

Kit came with incorrect main shaft.
The groove for the collar is too high. So the shaft moves up and down around 4 mm (see video)
Tried up side down but it's even worse - groove goes down main bearing.
Will have to contact hobbyking with that.

Other concern :
Got some white residue close to solders on satellite receiver (see photos)
Ebay seller says all of the ones he sells are similar.
Yet I'm not sure if I can use it safely.
Any opinions on that?

So far tried it with orangerx R620 and it seems it bound properly (solid led on both)

So far no luck with R100 satellite :-(
Research shows that few people got it working with Spectrum satellite but still couldn't find any reasonable information.

I think I'm going to have to use conventional receiver, although that's not what I was planning when buying ZYX S2.

If I would know I would consider different FBL unit.
I wanted to avoid using bigger conventional receiver with three additional cables...

Got quite dissapoiting reply from hobbyking regarding incorrect main shaft.
I showed them video and described the issue but of course that's not enough for them.
I will try to post more details in the evening.

"Hi,
450 class heli kit I ordered recently came with wrong main shaft.
The groove for collar is too high on main shaft. Because of that the main shaft can move up and down.
Here is link to video to show you what is the problem:
https://goo.gl/photos/6beHNQfBCBjzhW647

I tried to flip main shaft up side down but it was even worse - groove went down under main bearing.

Could you make sure you send me the correct part for that kit??"

Now don't get me wrong.
I do understand we are not paying for top quality but at least I would like to have a complete kit, with no incorrect parts. Their customer service is a joke.
You can laugh now, enjoy :-D

Not only I described the problem but I also included a video to show what I mean!
I'm assuming if I would send them photos in the first place, they would ask for video...
"wrong main shaft" - can this be misunderstood?!?! :-D

It's sad how they always try to deter/discourage customers.

(times up, got to go)

Lucas, besides checking both ends of the shaft.

1. check your bearing blocks are facing the right direction. I know some bearing blocks designs are actually asymmetrical top/down.

2. Look for shims. You may need a couple of 5mm inner dia shims.

3. Not sure what kind of shaft you have. If it's not lipped you may be able to move the collar.

Lol you were lucky. My 450 kit was missing the entire tail! That was never resolved and I ended up buying one off eBay instead.

Thanks for input guys :-)
1. I don't think that's the case. Main frame came already assembled. I think I would notice if it wouldn't be assembled correctly. But I will double check that once I get home
2. Good tip, thanks.
3. It is lipped / grooved (is it same thing? ) Would it be ok to put the collar on the shaft with no lip?
The collar wouldn't move if there would be no lip??

Some heli's do not have lipped main shafts to stop the shaft dropping through the bearing blocks.

These heli's usually require that 'stop' from a collar i.e. MSH. I believe the first few Align micros were the same.

However, I think the newer Aligns have lips instead of a collar, as the lip will stop the shaft from moving.

Generally, if you have a lip, there's no collar. Like I'm rebuilding a 250 I crashed, the current main shafts are lipped and no collar.

My advice, check that your frame is built correctly, check for shims. If the shaft is collared, you may be able to move it. If in doubt buy an Align shaft.

Actually, I just googled hobbyking for the lols...

Is this what you have? (Assuming pic doesn't change)

If it is, it looks like you can adjust the collar height. The grub screws should, in theory, hold down the collar. Use thread locker though.

Between that and the align shaft with the lip I showed you earlier, however, I'd go for the Align shaft, quite frankly. Maybe tarot makes a similar one.

Yup, that's the one.
And the groove is simply too high.
When I'm trying to move the collar down and tighten grub screws it just pops a bit higher.
Lip/groove position doesn't let me tighten grub screws.

I think Florida Heli had same issue with his tarot kit. He described it better than I do.

I think I can work around this with my rotatory dremel tool, yet I still would like hobbyking to provide the CORRECT part for the kit I paid for.

Thanks for help and tips anyways :-)
