Build Log
USS Minneapolis C-13

started with the longest of the 3 builds that are a little more than just planning.. frame and profiles on the building board.. some more sanding/fairing and time for the planks.. (I have a big pile of planks cut and ready) this long predred lady has some great hull lines and curves..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Minneapolis_(C-13)

Will be watching your build of the C-13. The original mast and bell are on display at a local lake here in Minneapolis. Where did you get the plans or dimensions for the hull?

http://www.marylandsilver.com/ these are copies of original stuff from the national archives, the Minneapolis set is very complete, only missing info on the angles of the outboard prop shafts, but have found an period engineering report for her speed trails, no drawings but all the info numerically. the hull is the same for the USS Columbia (C-12)

thanks, this one is fun, long and sleek with great curves, most likely the most uncomplicated deck layout for the period..(no inset gun decks, no open boat deck with cranes and booms)her and her sister were built for speed and endurance(odd fact, the original design called for three stacks the Columbia ended up with 4 while the Minneapolis was built with 2) on the other end can't wait to start on the Texas (BB1) hull, she has all the charm of a alligator snapping turtle on steroids..

Yes Sir!

Beautiful Lines... From here you make the Build Process look so approachable.

I'll be watching... And Learning.

And looking forward to your USS Texas Build.
