Help!
Quanum diy headtracker on Turnigy 9XR transmitter

Greetings,

I just received my new quanum diy goggles and head tracker.

It is not clearly explained how to make this work on the 9XR.

Any ideas?

it is supposed to plug into your trannys trainer socket and you use the software you can download from the hobbyking website to program the head tracker and assign the channels you want it to operate. then you set those channels on the tranny as if they were being used by a buddy box slave unit. the headtracker is used instead of a buddy box to control the channels.

I already tried all that.
I confirmed the head tracker is working (plots), assigned ch7 and 8, (which are the gamble channels), saved the changes.

Trainer function is activated on the transmitter, but I only see ways to edit parameters for flight controls (ele, ail, thr, rud). Is there something else I need to do to the transmitter?

possibly, watch this, it is for the taranis but you tranny may have something similar to do. the taranis only lists the 4 primary controls in the trainer section too

as far as i know, trainer function is for trainer IN. in the mix setup, you should have a TRN7 100% for ch 7. and so on..... Thats how it is on my setup. I have a 9xr(opentx) with the DIY setup of that HT.

I had to do this to get it to work on my 9XR.

At first it wouldn't work, tinkering around with a multimeter eventually showed me that either the head tracker plug was sending to the wrong pin, or the trainer port was listening to the wrong pin. So i soldered the two pins together.

Apparently, fatshark needed this modification as well to get its headtracking to work. The pin the headtracker uses for its data is isn't actually connected to anything.

So to get the quanum head tracker to work with the 9xr I'll have to solder those pins together?

Yes. But be careful. Those solder blobs may look like they're touching, but there's actually no continuity between them. It would be pretty bad if the blobs merged together while you were soldering and ended up shorting the Vcc pin. The guy that assembled the 9XR used way too much solder.

Then maybe you can get that excess out. I'm too afraid of melting the plug to wick it away, and there's no way for me to keep it from sliding around on the table.

On the other side of that board is the six pin futaba socket. That hole on the left is for the JR socket.

I'm using the Hobbyking Headtracker. Same as the video above.

So all I have to do is open the radio and solder a bridge between those two pins?

And the included cable will work?

I seem to still be confused.

Isn't this the cable I need to plug into the futaba port of the 9xr and the other end goes to the head tracker?

Does it not work? I really apologize and appreciate the help.

Yes you use that plug but pins 3 and 6 on the 9xr still need to be shorted.
