Brushless Gnat help!

I have recieved a KONTRONIK FUN480-33 and jeti brushless speed control for christmas. I am planning on putting it in my Gnat. Has anyone tried this? Or has any one tried this motor in the wemotech 480 fan so I can have some idea on performance? I'm so exited since this is my first brushless motor! I can't wait. Oh, also does anyone know if the gnat wings are strong enough on thier own? The plane has flown before on a Apl29 and the wings were ok with that!

Thanks Alan

Are you talking about the Robbe Gnat. Where did you still found it, i've been looking for over a year now !

I think the Kontronic will be fine in the Wemotec (i believe the 480-33 has a kv of 3300), but for whoooomph performance you will have to use 10 cells. Why not coninue to use the original Rojet ? It has more static thrust compared to the Wemotec and should be easier to handlaunch (and will deliver decent performance with a 3300 kv motor on 8 cells)

The 480-33 works good with 10cells (~30A) in a Minifan - I'd go for 11-12cells though (approaching 35-40A static)

Alan,
I'm using this motor on 12 cells in a Minifan, I'm getting 35,4A at full throttle on this setup, it gives very good performance to my plane, it's the one in my avatar. This setup gives around 900 grams of static thrust. I'm using 1250SCR cells, they're the same size as CP1700's. If using this motor in a Gnat i'd use some carbon rowing to reinforce the wing as it's a little weak out of the box.

Hi

Hi all,

I bought the Robbe Gnat when it was still in production and have been flying it for a while. I decided to not use the rojet since it is inefficent and I bungee my Gnat on takeoff. I have been using a 8 cell 2400's pack on the Apl29. How much duration would I get out of 10 x CP1700's on this new setup? I would like to strengthen the wings but I can't see how since the spar would got through the duct! Whats "carbon rowing"?
Thanks Alan

Robbe FO 141 Gnat for sale

Stephane,

I just put one NIB Robbe Gnat kit up for auction on ebay.com.
I've been looking to find one for myself, for a long time. When I finally was successful, there were FOUR! I bought them all at once thinking that I would have spare parts for years to come if I should ever need them. Well, I haven't even started mine, for a year now, so I decided to sell the other three.

They will appear on ebay.com from time to time. The first one is now running. Search: Robbe Gnat

I live in Switzerland, so shipping to Belgium would even be less than what I mentioned in the description.

Regards,
Matt

Please take this discussion about e-bays sales etc. off line. It is not an appropriate topic for the EDF forum.

Thanks.

Sorry, Chris,

I just figured that many r/c group members might be interested.
I have posted this information in "For Sale/Wanted", "Jets" and under one other topic which I can't find anymore.

Of course, you may remove my posts if you deem them inappropriate.

With kind regards,
Matt
