AVRDude as a command line tool is not very comfortable.

I'm using a GUI named AVRDudess

Thanks for the tip. It's pretty cool and multiplatform, just tested on Linux and works fine.

Another option is Extreme Burner AVR. I don't recall whether it's multi platform but it works well on Windows.

So after reviewing the docs it appears no Hobbykling orange devices is supported for auto level (heading hold) mode? None have accelerometers. Correct?

Not these OrangeRX stabilisers. You are correct that they have no accelerometers. They do however have 'heading hold' in much the same principle as used in helicopter tail gyros - ie where ever you put the tail, it stays there. With these stabilisers once flashed with Open Flight Stabilizer have heading hold capability on three axis. Whatever attitude you set the model to, it stays there until you tell it otherwise.

'Auto-level' however, is totally different flight mode to heading hold and should not be compared toone another.
