The modules have the arduino bootloader and a custom version of openlrs installed. The ftdi serial programmer SHOULD be the 3.3V type not the usual 5V type. I did use the 5V type, but you should not since the rf module will fry sooner or later.

Range test not done yet. The original antenna doesent look convincing.

I did have a manufacturing fault on the TX module. Hope this is an isolated event. The connector was not properly soldered, and the ppm pin did not make frim contact. Luckily after some wiggling i did see it.
Thanks for the info, are they any new updates???

LOL I was wondering about the FTDI connection and seeing that pic answered it
I guess this one didn't took 6 years to be designed.

Not any surprise, that they haven't changed anything from the original OpenLRS.

I bought a set to test it, but I haven't managed to make it work yet, I have to install Arduino 0.22, it seems using Arduino 1.0 for programming doesn't work.
I'm interested in using this for multicopters, that way I can use RangeLink for planes and OpenLRS for multicopters, the OpenLRS receiver is lighter, cheaper and range is not a problem.

Try my OpenLRSng firmware. It has been made for arduino 1.x.

I'm having difficulty trying to establish a link using any of the 3 firmwares so I believe it must be some stupid mistake on my part that I haven't thought of. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great, I've tried quite a few different things now.

What board types should be chosen in thundead?

For thundead you select the M2 TX and RX. You should note that the markkings on oRx are off in this case.

For openLRSng I added some output on serial on RX startup which should help analyse trouble.

With OpenLRSng the binding mode on tx is signaled by tx emitting short 'clicks at around 5Hz'.

Then power on RX having the PC connected and Arduino Serial monitor open at 115200 baud. This should show info at bound time.
