Build Log
Wicked powered Jpower 50mm Mig-15 EDF

Here is my build thread for the Jpower 50mm Mig 15 50mm EDF. I bought this from Nitroplanes when they had free shipping last month.

Setup:
Wicked 4800 KV
Wemotec 50mm fan
Pentium 40 ESC

lipo will be a 4S 1000 40C Skylipo from hobbypartz

Used the Dremel and removed some foam. The 4S1000 lipo fits well. A 3S 1800 does fit but is quite long. If you are wanting to use the 6000 KV motor then a 3S 1500 would be the biggest I think you can fit in. More tomorrow but need to head off to bed.

Don.

I have been looking this Mig.. I'll be following your build and results with some interest.

It seems that every plane that gets the Wemo 50mm treatment is vastly improved... but my hunch is that this airframe might not benefit as much due to the excessive drag.

Even if the top speed wont keep up with the Wicked powered F-16, etc I bet it will still climb like King Kong.

That battery has been very good for me thus far! Lots of power in those little things! Over 400watts in my set up with those. And with mine I used the dremel along the sides on the inside of the battery compartment for the wires to slide next to the battery.

Don, I got a Hyperion 1600 in the fuse of my Mig ok but had to cut away all of the canopy floor to be able to stuff the wiring into the canopy and change to higher powered magnets to keep it closed ! As stated before more thrust is noticeable more speed less so but the whine from that 6000 motor/fan prevents me flying at our field so going back to stock on the Mig.

Looking good! I like how you set up the battery compartment! And the fix for the incidence as well.... Can't wait to hear about the flight report!

Got my maiden in today. Had only one 4S1000 pack but it flew right out of my hand. I still needed a few down trim clicks but I am so glad I went with reduced tail incidence. I did manage a 90 mph pass on my droid app which is not to bad in 32F weather. I did hit the darn field goal post on my landing approach, knocked a wing off but I have already fixed it. I think I am going to go for a 4S 1300 lipo in this model. I need more WOT flight time!

thanks for the great build.
Only a few posts but worth much more than
those big threads over there with so many
confusing, repeating info.

Are you doing the anhydral wings too?

Here is how I get a 4AS 1300 lipo in. I made a tray from some hard 1/16" sheet about 4" x 2 ". Then glued 1/8 x 1/4" strip around the perimeter. Then cut the front open so the balsa try will install much easier (see photo). Then glued the tray in. The lipo fits perfectly in. Next will be putting the nose back together.

Way to go Don! I was going to use a carbon plate, but it think I will use it for control horn protection and build a wood tray for the pack. How's the CG?
