How does this fly? I'm working on one now with the same setup and was wondering.

That looks like a lot of fun to fly!
Let us know how she flies.... and what sort of flight times you're getting with that setup.

Thanks!

Henry,

Here is a picture of my own Giant Big Stik that I built in January 2011.

Monster Power 160
Turnigy Sentilon 100A ESC
APC-E 18x12
10S-4000
6 Servos

These are fantastic planes for electric power conversion. When the wind is up this plane will still go exactly where you point it. The big wing makes it float in for landings. One of my favorites.

Put my battery hatch right up front on top and added a couple of Habu air scoops for cooling inlets.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

I really want one of these with EP. The Rimfire 160 has more than enough power?
Does anyone have pictures of access plate they made?
I have a electrostik and I'm sure they fly with the same characteristics, just bigger.

jk,

Here is the hatch arrangement on mine. Magnet catch on the back. Two wooden L brackets to catch the lip on the front. Two air-scoops from a Habu to feed air down over the batteries.

jk,

I am using the Monster Power 160 and it has more than enough power. The Rimfire 160 actually has a little more power.

The Giant Big Stik flies even better than the Electrostik. The big Hersey bar wing will let this plane float in for landings. The heavier weight makes this a great windy day flier. Point it and it goes there. I have mine set up for flaps. I have never used them as this plane lands great without them. Will probably convert them over to extra ailerons.

Thanks. I was thinking Hacker A60 or Rimfire, but not sure if I should run 10 or 12S. The highest I have is 8s on a TP P-47 with Hacker A50. How much room for batteries? I'd rather go higher mah than and ballast weights.

I am running 10S-4000 and there is plenty of extra room. Battery sizes have come down some. I am sure 10S-5000 would fit or 12S-4000.

I took the plung and bought a Rimfire 160, 4 Futaba S3305 and two S3010 servos. I pretty sure I'll go with the new CC PHX Edge 80HV and a pro BEC.

What are the dimensions of the cross on the wing and vertical stab? Since I have the electrostik I was thinking of doing something different with the giant and replacing those crosses (leaving the one on the fuselage intact) with some skulls like these:

Also, has anyone seen the landing gear replaced with carbon fiber ones or painted the origonal red?

jk,

The tail cross is 6.5 x 6.5 inches and the wing cross is 12.5 x 12.5 inches.
