Went flying yesterday. My first time at Cactus. What a great site! The Chaos got bumped around quite a lot. I think it was just too light. My heavier F104 felt much better.

The fillets are nearly done. I just need to fill a couple of low spots.

Yeah the rounded tips make it look a bit different. I'm looking forward to seeing it painted.

Not much progress on my Chaos or Choad builds this weekend. I cut some foam instead. I've always been terrible at cutting wings but now I'm finally getting results that I'm happy with

Try lowering both the heat and the speed.

How low? I'm using 1.6A on .014 rene. Takes about 1min to make each cut.

They are pretty good... But they can still be better.

There are lots of foam pubes. Less out at the tip where the wire was going slower.

That's iso-board. The dow blue foam cuts a little faster (using the same current and weight) and has less pubes. The dow is squishier and the iso-board is crunchier.

What's the voltage? What's the length of the wire? What's the foam density?

Just thinking aloud here, make of it what you will:

Do you really clean the wire before each cut? I took to running a strip of very fine sandpaper over the wire to polish it up after cleaning the gunk off.

Tried different wires? I ended up using stainless pre-straightened fishing trace. It took some pretty serious tension too.

16V for 30".

Isoboard is listed at 32 - 35 kg/m. Dow at 32 kg/m.

I wipe the wire after every panel, so every 2 cuts, and the tip templates after each cut. I've tried guitar strings, lockwire, fishing trace, and now the rene.
