Help1938 Vern Krehbiel Challenger Plans Wanted 68 inch Wingspan
I am looking for digital plans, or a place to buy paper plans or even better a short kit for the 1938 Challenger designed by Vern Krehbiel. It was originally a free flight model, but I want to build one that is a 3ch RC.
I found found the 1/2a version plans, and actually own a 1/2a texaco version that was given to me as a gift from my uncle. I want to build the full size version of this plan.
I know I could take the 1/2a plans to the copy shop and have them enlarged but I really want to find the original 68 inch wingspan version.
I have done some research with no avail, the 1/2a version was featured in the November 1986 Model Aviation, in the photo it is along side the 1/2a version. For AMA members the link is: https://library.modelaviation.com/ma...12a-challenger
Furthermore, I found the airplane mention in an old SAM 600 article on the bottom of page 8 going into the top of page 9. It shows an assembled view, but would be no help building the aircraft. This article is from May 1998. The link to this article is here: http://www.sam600.com/d_thermaleer/newsletter_055.pdf
Then, I found an article of someone that built the 1/2a version, in Letters to the Editor in a random undated Model Aviation magazine: https://library.modelaviation.com/ma...letters-editor
Finally, the AMA's Biography of Vern Krehbiel shows that the Challenger was his first designed airplane and was latter kitted by VK Models, which of course is no longer around. The link is: https://www.modelaircraft.org/files/KrehbielVernon.pdf
Below are two pictures of my 1/2a Texaco version "Challenger" the one of me holding it was my first "max flight" with it at just over 15 minutes, I have to put the thing in a emergency spiral that flight due to it going out of sight. Got the old .049 on about a 3:00 minute engine run on 5cc of fuel.
All, I have spent some hours researching this airplane, and would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me find an original kit, original plans, digital plans, or even better a modern day short kit.
As you can see, I am not just asking someone to do the leg work for me, I have spent a great deal of time, I am just coming up empty handed and putting out a call for help.
Thank you in advanced,

You can get a short kit of the original size V.K. Challenger from Klarich Kits. I've ordered many kits from Harry Klarich over the years and have been happy with them.
It's listed at $49.00 though my catalog may be not the most current but you can download the latest from the website.
