ADDED ATTRACTION - ALES

To see how ALES would fit in with our regular thermal contests, we will be running a trial contest this month. Participation is LIMITED TO 6 PILOTS. If you want to participate, you must preregister with me by E-MAIL. We will fly 3 rounds of 10 minutes with a 30 meter landing tape. The format will be man-on-man. Don Cohn and/or Al Strahm will oversee the ALES. Entry fee is $5.00

I just moved to monterey. I would like to fly in this contest. Is there anybody else down my way to possibly practice with? I have a winch, etc.

Launch Hardware Roll Call

Launch Hardware Roll Call
I will bring the red retriever & battery.
note:
At the last contest, by the third round the winch batteries were getting weak.
If anyone can bring an extra winch battery, it would be helpful.

Thanks,
Rich D.

Contest Hardware

Rich et. al.
I am close on getting a plane back in the air but will not be ready by the contest. I can have a winch, retiever or batteries ready to go for the contest if someone would be willing to stop by my house to get them. I live just off Saratoga Av near hwy 85 so I should be on someones way.

Let me know if you need any of my club equiptment.

I'll bring a winch and battery - Mr D has the stakes and turnaround ( the blue box ).

It would be nice to have 2 spare batteries - change them out after 2nd round .... all them 4 meters are proving tuff on batteries.

Bob S - can you bring 2 rolls of winch line if you have any?

Tim Candee made us some new battery cables for the winches - I'll bring a new set for winch #2 - I'll be testing out some new battery quick connects - if they work out I'll get more and we can set up all the winches.

Will be there with new winch lines, and a winch and retriever for contest. Only have one set of batteries.

SBSS January 2012 TD & ALES contest

First, many thanks to CD Bob D. for his highly appreciated efforts.
And to all who help with the hardware & coordination.
Today's weather was PERFECT for any month, let alone January.

Wow, we really had a great turn out for the contest today! The weather was incredible too. I had a great time helping out with the ALES portion of the contest. It will be interesting to see what feedback we get at the next club meeting on the addition of ALES to our monthly contest regime.

Yes, ALES was fun to watch. It's time I install my prop and upgraded batteries and join the fun.
