Polar Bear Fraud

I know there is another thread posted about this when the story broke several weeks ago, but I can't seem to find (I hate it when that happens!),

So I thought I would just post the update in a new thread. Looks like a federal investigation is underway;

Hey fella,

I SAW the film of the polar bears falling out of the sky onto the buildings.
It's real!

Love how you call it fraud before the investigation has even released any prelim findings....

Honestly though, the original report wasn't out to lunch. Sounds more to me like researchers publishing an observed trend, and others (the eco-hippies) crusading the paper as "proof" they were correct. The paper wasn't even what I'd call in depth. There wasn't enough data to accurately conclude anything (and no conclusions should have been made). I would say I'm surprised the scientific community used such an incomplete report as "proof" of anything, but it seems par for the course since the climate change debate became a political one.

Wow, the "peer reviewed" consisted of the scientist's wife?

Peer review is the key to good science. If it isn't done, you don't get good science.

I find it interesting that they "concluded" the observed bears drowned when the closest they got was a 1500 flyover in the first place.

Good science doesn't come from ad agencies, focus groups, and political marketing strategists.

That is where you get social manipulation and propaganda information.

Well, they claimed it WAS done. But by the wife of the person writing the paper? Wow.

And, "peer review is a key." It isn't the key.

"Observed trend?"

"we saw four polar bears while flying in an airplane. We think they drowned because sea ice is receeding."

How is that an "observed trend?"

Note that they didn't even confirm any cause of death.

Double- blind studies are also good as well as replication. But just telling the truth is helpful.
