Or was it that the guide pin interfered with the fuselage?

Hi Bert,

It did felt wrong from the start when I start her the first time but I had inspected her the first time BUT without the front top piece so I can tell I'm lucky that I was able to fly her in the first place although she was a handful

But I'm glad I found the problem and now she handles better than expected.

I just posted here for everybody to see and learn that mistakes are easily made.

Now some time and good weather to really fly her and hopefully to take a video from this flight.

Regards,

Jan,

Very well done Jan, congratz!!!
How does the tail rotor respond? what speed are you running the head and the tail?
Curious to see a video, and see it live one day :-)

cheers,

Didier

Hi Didier,

The head runs about 1100 rpm with half symmetric 620mm CCW blades.
The tail is responding great with a lot of authority I guess it runs 6000 rpm with 120mm scale blades. Yes they are big for a tail but they are running great.

I can notice that the tail is responding a bit weird then you normally expect, caused because of the angle but it is not a problem at all.
However you will notice it.
Most unusual is that the CG is located a bit backwards (nearly neutral) instead of a little more forwards. So the tail is lifting by the angled tail rotor.
Have to say that she did not flown in free airspace so I was not able to test flown her and see how she responds in fast forward turns and fast forward.
But in the concealed area (my backyard) she responds quiet well.

But it's a beast in the air and heavy.

Hi Jay,

No I still not have any aerial footage of the BattleHawk sorry.

I have flown here and she is a hand full but responding great but she is much faster in response than my Apache who is lighter than this one
I'm still busy to adjust the settings to get some rest in this bird she is now giving me shivers to fly with. (I'm not that good of a pilot)
But it seems only a matter of time to fine tune here and then it will be flying smooth.

My Apache was also a dragon to fly her when I put on the fuselage and then to I was able to get here flying the way I want here to fly.

The problem is that I do more FPV flying with airplanes then with my Helicopters nowadays so that's the problem right now.

Some example, sorry its of topic:

Kind regards,

Hello Pelle, Jay and all the others,

Finely I have some video of her flown by myself as usual and made my first mistake by starting this bird tail wind and she rocks with tail wind but stopping takes some time and some skill (i do not have that much) so I did got a brown pants moment but all went well after all
She is nibble in the air, much more then my Apache wile the Apache is lighter than the BattleHawk.
But stopping is much much more work than by the Apache so I have still a lot to learn with this one..
Tail response is very good even a bit on the hard side so that need some adjustments.

But here is the video.

Maiden flight model Battlehawk / BlackHawk (3 min 22 sec)

Stay well you all,

Jan,
