Hi Pete ... my CoG is about same ...
I posted 8mm ... but note I also said Reduced rate 5mm .. which is what I use .. Full rate is only when I want to do crazy things !!
I have a new replacement fuselage sitting unused ... my old one gets re-hashed now and again. My old wings are glued into the old fuz .. basically one of the plastic clips let go in a flight and I don't trust them anymore. I couldn't see any way I could lock the clip in place .. and also the CF bar had snapped of. Silly factory has glued the bar into the wing - so I couldn't get broken section out. Best then to just glue wing to fuz.
So now I want to get new wings and tail parts ... keep old model for beat-ups and strip new to create own colour scheme. But HK is sold out on wings at moment.
I'm thinking to use the Funfighter 1950kv motor ... but it's rated 5 x 4.5 / 6 x 4 prop only on 4S ... so I'm hoping that on 3S with the 7x6 .. she'll do OK ..
4S x 1400kv stock = 20,720
3S x 1950kv FF motor = 21,645
Info is on 3S, 7x6 .. the FF motor draws 25A ... so not far of what the stock 540 does ...

Edge540 down!! Again....
I had another crash. not exactly sure how, even checking the video I can't tell why really. I am pretty sure it was an Accelerated Stall - too much up elevator.
It was coming down a loop, very low, and just went vertical into the ground.
A bit of a fuselage split, which was easy to repair later.
No servo stripping etc.
Quite good... little... damage as it turned out. Repaired in an hour.
But when I went to run the motor up nothing happened... except SMOKE a few seconds later!! Which ended up was from the ESC... so that was fried then.
Testing the motor, cautiously, with another ESC it was all fine.... odd. I expected to have a shorted winding too.
I threw in a 40A Turnigy Plush ESC. And seeing the 7x5 prop broke, I threw on an 8x4 that I have been meaning to test it with.
Out for tests today and it is better than ever!! It loves the 8x4 !! The top speed heads more towards a 4S on stock prop (this is running 3S 1300mAH) and 'good brisk flight' is at 60% throttle. Three flights, for 4.0 mins to the "land now" buzzer and they all came down just "slightly warm" - seemingly a bit lower temp than ever before, but close.
Then I tried a 3S 1600mAH 25C and it was faster, and at the same timer used, it came down slightly warm too. But could have gone longer... maybe 1.0 min more?
The 3S 1300mAH I put right forward to the firewall.
The 3S 1600mAH had to go almost right to the grey cross brace (rearwards) for the same CofG. I think the 1600mAH is 40g heavier approx, but I could not tell any flight difference - but it was a windy day and I had to fly reasonably fast ('brisk') almost all the time, to be safer and more linear, so it was more of a "Edge540 Racer" than Aerobatic today.
Boy am I glad I did not wreck it badly, or totally, in that last crash!! I am really starting to like this plane a lot!! And... I want to get my $100 of long term value out of it too! LOL
Next time I better CHECK the mobile phone pics to make sure they are in focus!! hehe (sorry)
The impact point (hole) is behind the rear end of the Edge540.

I've started with a Radian Pro and bought the Sbach of this serie as second plane...
She's still too nervous for me, I love to fligh it but really carefully and always with 50% of dual rate...
Anyway, these planes are crazy fantastic....
But not for a beginner...
Try something more lazy to learn before.
Ps: sorry for my english, I'm french ;)

Put the model back in the box and save it for when you can fly a model up down, sideways and upside down ...
Go buy a Trainer ... and save yourself a lot of heart-ache.
This model and the Sbach are ADRENALINE burners and will make even intermediate pilots nervous ...

thanks a lot for your advice and I think I'll follow! one more question! which of these planes think is the best trainer from hobbyking and for me or none... Lol
In the other post I did not mention that I have some knowledge about planes and their behaviors. already flight planes in flight simulator but should not have any impact on this hobby right? One more think i have the mxs-r plane but is equal to edge rigor?
Thanks one more time for yours help! Have a Nice day!

Lipedrag ... here's a standard stock 540 Edge on 1600 4S ...
Ignore the J3 Cub bit at beginning ... that model has always had a mind of it's own !
But the 540 after - you can see she is well powered by the literally instant take-off ... and during flight the acceleration when throttle opened ...
