Build Log
AK-Models Sukhoi SU-26

Three weeks ago I purchased a AKM Laser-Cut Kit Sukhoi SU-26.

Specifications:
Wing Span: 53.3 in
Length: 43.25 in
Wing Area: 520 sq. in
Engine: .46 2-Cycle.
Flying weight: 5-5 1/2Lb.
Radio: 4 Channel.

Setup:
B50 13S 6.7:1
APC-E 15X10
5S-3700
4 HS225BB
CC60

Build is going fast, the fuse is with locking tabs for all the parts, side bottom and top deck with fuse members. You can do a full push in fit before gluing.

Wing is a traditional build, two piece wing glued together. Leading edge sheeted only. I may do a full sheeted wing. Also it is build with one server and torque rods. I will do servos saddles in the wings instead for proper control.

Will have building pics soon, busy building and forgetting to take pics.

If you have build kits before you can do this pretty easely. Parts are NOT identified, you have to mark the part numbers yourself on them.

I built one a few years ago with an OS .46. It is a very good flying sport plane. Mine flew KE one handed with no mix. Enjoy

Looks like your build is coming along very well. Please continue posting more pictures as you go. Are you finding any difficulties besides the parts not being numbered? I'm getting close to finishing a House of Balsa P-51 Mustang & am looking for my next kit. At $80 this one looks like a winner for my next kit, plus I like the looks of the Sukhoi's better than the Extras & Edges& Giles style planes. I think it's mostly the nice round cowl.

If I go with this one I'll also be making it electric powered as well. Mostly cause I can't figure out how to make one of the gasser engines run for more than 15 seconds. And the clean-up & prep time of the electric being a lot less than the gasser has it's perks also.

The only thing tha I do not like is the location of the servos. There is only on servo for the ailerons and it is located in the center of the wing. i will be putting one server per ailerons and in the wings also.

The second set of servos for the rudder adn elevator are in the belly of the plane under the copit window. I hate long control rods. I will be palcing the two servos in the tail with only 3" control rods.

That's looking good. Keep the pictures coming. I'm still considering this one even though I just bought two more kits. An old pattern plane called "fantasy" and a Great Planes Ulitimate biplane. I still like the looks of the Sukhoi so I might add that to my build list as well. Gonna watch your progress some more first before I buy one though.
