Mine came from NitroPlanes as just a kit. I tossed the bad mech. retracts and installed the smallest HK 6.99 electrics which worked well. I'm running a 4s 3300 30c pack and pulling around 700 watts I believe. Wish Nitro would get more airframes so I would have a backup. I'll have motor issue fixed and get another flight prob. next week.

I'd hate to hand launch this guy, but the wing mod might help as it will make it more stable. My CG was moved back to the front of the retract recess in the foam and no flat spin, even at dead stick and low speed.

What was the retract replacements? Is there a link? I've heard the stock ones are garbage. I would like to put in decent electric retracts....

I had to convert the nose to stearing which is a pain. There might be a version out there that already is setup as HK uses these in their Vampire and Durafly Trojan.

That's great. Love the scale triple mains! The nose wheel retract looks a bit complicated for me...Isn't there a drop-in etract that functions as a working nose wheel?

Stacker, thinking that might be a good suggestion on the wash in. I have a retired delta that I put sub rudders on to help stabilize. I remember thinking that it did help. Cool stuff on your plane. Good luck!

The more I think about that wash out mod stacker, the more I think that could be one of the most effective mods yet for this bird. In fact, I'm fairly certain I might still have #6 or #7 had I implemented that mod.

Now I wish NP or BH would get the bloody kit in so I don't have to buy a PNP that I end up tearing all the guts out any ways. These kits have been sold out for months! As soon as I see these kits for sale again I'm buying three!

I spoke with both NP and BH today and neither of them have any clue when they expect the SR-71 kits in. What gives? Anyone know of a site that's selling them, foreign or domestic?

They've got the ARF/RTF ones for sale at www.toysonics.com -- but they aren't cheap... over $250! Since you've already got all of the guts for a new bird... you could wait and buy 3 or 4 kits for the price of one ARF/RTF bird from these guys... but if you're REALLY anxious, you could pull the trigger...

Yeah I'm going to wait for kits to become available here in the US then grab three or 10.
