72 mhz vs 2.4 w/Booster

Hello...I have to believe this has been argued...but I couldn't find the thread.

Is 2.4 with a Booster better than stock 72 mhz? I have read a lot about the boosters and it seems people are extremely happy with them. I think the average distance people are recording 2.5 - 3 miles. Usually the video is loosing signal before the controller.

I also get the impression fpv is not a good idea using 2.4 RC tx without a booster.

Based on that...Since I have 2.4 RC tx now...I am wondering if it would be better to purchase new 72 mhz rc tx...or get a booster. I am not worried about price...but more what works best and most reliable.

Thanks!

This is probably the thread you are thinking of, or at least a more recent one on the subject.

You will have to somewhat overlook the arguing and insults that may appear, and read teh oopinions to decided for yourself which is better.

It seems even among 2.4 users will admit 72mhz is the best in terms of price, availability, and range without modification. Especially since 72mhz is getting cheaper and cheaper as manufacturers move to 2.4.

I picked up my Futaba 9cap from the radio sales list here at RCG. It was about $150 with 6 receivers. Just FYI, they seem to run a bit higher on eBay for the most part.
