New APC folding props - Anyone seen or used ?

APC make a range of folding props - with a 'unique hub system'
http://www.apcprop.com/store/agora.c...lding-Prop-Hub

But I cannot find any pictures or drawings to explain how it fits together and key dimensions. Anyone seen or used these, or know of a web site with pictures ? Thanks Mark

I'll try and post a picture later, basically, the hub is a two piece affair that bolts together and has recesses to accept a molded protrusion of the ends of the blades. Unfortunately the hubs have an 8mm prop shaft hole so they normally have to be bushed down. The blades do not have pin holes drilled, so they cannot be used with more conventional hubs.

Reliable?

Mayhbe it's a silly question, but is such a blade mounting system reliable? How many Gs does it take for the blade bosses to work their way out of the hub holes? I prefer steel screws to secure my blades.

How about being tested with a 10 hp motor at over 16,000 rpm!

I don't know if you know how much force it takes to break a steel screw the way they are used in those folders, but I can guarantee you that screw is a lot stronger then the prop blade...

Second thing, if a manufacturer like APC thinks it's ok, I'm sure they have tested it thousands of times. They won't put something on the market that isn't 100% safe (when used correctly).

Don't have the info with me; but there are some collet adpater parts @ Hobby Lobby that match the taper of the APC"F" hub.

I think it was like 25050 for 5mm 25040 for 4mm and 25032 for 3.2 mm.

Its near the Fruend.... folder.

The spinners will work as well!
