Just picked up a mini GPS datalogger its very small , light ( 16 grammes) and plugs into a spare RX channel
70mm long x 20mm wide x 8mm deep

it gives -
total time
total distance
max speed
max hight ( for aircraft)
just needs sealing at the ends with a bit of silicone and its waterproof

*edit* - looked up the price, not as cheap as I was hoping for given that it's a HK branded product.

Its the same as the voltron GPS but a lot cheaper it my come down in price , very handy use it in planes , boats and cars ,

great for making alterations you can see if its faster or slower

I'd avoid using silicon to seal the ends unless it's the kind rated for use on electronics. The vapors while it's curing could damage some of the components.

Mmmm thats the best i can do Bill and still keep the 6 min run time thats with transmitter in flight mode 1 throttle at 80% max

a race is 6 mins with 10 secs mill time at a push i can just manage 6.1/2 mins

I couldn't make 6 minutes with mine, but on this side of the pond only have to worry about making 6 laps (unless I cut a marker)
6+ minutes run time at that speed is pretty impressive for the motors you have in your twin.

Theres a cost to pay for 6+ min run time Bill i am now on a twin 10s setup i am using 4 x 5800 5s 30c Zippy / flight power lipo's ( two per side ) on 70mm 3 blade props ( started off with 65mm two bladers it spun up like it had no props on ) i could not get anywhere near the run time on 8s even with 4 x 6000 nano lipo's

on the good side the motors work together well i have kept the weight as low as poss after a full race the motors, esc's and lipo's are all cold

i have found its better to tame an overpowed boat down than try and make a slower boat faster
