Traditional Boats of Ireland Project
Was over on MBM & came across this excellent resource for anyone who loves old wooden boats, especially those with sails. The 3D scanned hull line drawings you can download for free are some of the best I've seen.

Very important project indeed. The Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland & Labrador in Winterton, does fantastic work in keeping information and boat building alive in Newfoundland. I would suspect their boats are similar to Irelands as thousands of Irish immigrated to Newfoundland since the 1500's. They have a great website as well. Please visit their site at www.woodenboatnl.com
They actually have a boat being built so visitors can see how it was done. |

This Facebook page may be of interest to people, drawings were done by Traditional Boats Of Ireland scanned from a scale model as no full size boat exists. The "Kinsale Hooker" is similar to the "Galway Hooker". Scale Plans are included in the photos page and lots of photos of the original model and the construction of a model from the new plans, work in progress.
