So saturday morning, no wind at all in town. We joked about not bringing any lite models and tetting skunked. Got up to the hill by 730 and were greeted with 25mph wind, nice and smooth too.

Dan had his lost Budgee Smuggler and was way off right searching the face for it. Got a quick flight in and went to help look. Luckily he was flying Taranis radio and we used the telemetry to narrow the search (man these radios are nice). Amazingly the stout fuselage took the impact with just a small ding on the nose. Stripped elevator servo, broken nylon bolts and torn flaperon hinged were the only damage.

Wind continued to build. Got pretty strong around the same time the first cloud of dust hit us. I got to remaiden my favorite carboniferous (nasty incedent at goat rock). I had the 1" ballast tube leaded up and on the second pump the right wing folded at the end of the joiner tubes. Oops I geuss it wasn't repaired very well after all...

After a few the dust cleared and the wind backed off to ~45mph. We got lots of airtime in. Around 100 the dust started threatening again so we started packing up and were headed home around 130.

Buzzed over to Kiona, hoping to find the ellusive DS site. Couldnt seem to find a spot with a clean backside. We spent a couple of hours trying to get up Rattlesnake Mountain, no luck. Continued home, decided to try the hill between yakima and Selah. Pretty nice big hill with lots of South west face to it. Way to flat on top for any backside action. Nice vertical air though.

Looking forward to the next trip,
Lee

Was a really good mini trip. Friday we had fun re-maidening an old Turbo and Renagade that Keith got from Keith (confused yet?) They both flew great. Keith had a lot of great airtime with Vic's expertly built Bluto. Lee wasn't satisfied with plain rolling loops so when the dust got thick enough he headed out with Tiger Wiz to practice disappearing rolling loops.

A few extra condiments in your sandwich Lee?? (dust?) lol,............. By the looks of that last pic on page 196!

Must have been great lift barring the "visibility problems"
Did a little rain settle the dust at all?
