Hi there...

i just burned a 5in1 Unit from my Blade mSR ( not a airplane, its a mirco heli )
and im angry with puttin this into the basket..
and in that 5in1 unit, obv only damaged the channel for the rear fan,
so i have 2 working servos, and 1 working motor speed controller..

so i came on the idea, that i can build a little fly, like that "Parkzone Vapor" thing... or something similar on foam..

so my question is, cause im new to this hobby..
is it possible to build something with this unit ?
or ist it impossible cause it is for helis not for planes ?!
should be less expensive if im right here ?!
maybe someone have some already done plans or story to this..

i saw some plans out there for foamies, but i search something smaller
that vapor is nice in size, and should fit my flyarea in my livingroom..
and i only got 3 channels.. not 4 .. so no (ailearon=?!) like that on the plans i saw

You can do ailerons with the linear servos, just use a servo horn bolted to a piece of ply as a bellcrank. Your brick will be fine for a plane though you may have to play around with aligning it as it has a gyro.

should i use the 2 servos to do aileron and lift ? or to do aileron and turn ?

sry for dump questions.. just dont know what is more effectiv
cant imangine how to use the servos, but i think i have understand what you mean with that servo horn as a bellcrank .. makes sense..

but how to make the lift off ? over the rear wing ?

You can buy the 5in1 unit by itself, and then your heli will be alive again. That is probably your best option. Trying to make it in to a plane will most likely cost more money in the long run.

Are you sure it is your 5in1 unit that went bad? Or is it possible that your tail motor just burned out? The reason I ask is that the replacement tail boom w/motor/prop on it is only ~$14.99 at both of the websites I just linked.

but i have already tested the tail two ways 1) directly plugged to the lipo, and 2) connected to the Mainmotor port on the 5in1.. both work well..
And i already have ordered a new 5in1 for my mSR...

but thats the topic, dont want to dump the old one, and search a function for it, this is why i ask for help to build a small plane..

i never would put my msr in the basket its to lovely
but atm i wonder.. i ordered the new 5in1 in a german shop, and it still isnt here (i live in germany) a way long shipping for national...


so im still intressted in finding a way to put my 5(4in)in1 in something with wings

wich motor should i use on this 5in1 ? any advices here ?
i just want to build a micro plane with ~ 25" wingspan

Try www.flying-kit.com for a 7mm which produces a good 30g of thrust (I've tested this myself), of if you want more power get the gears and motor from a pz P-51, that gives about 40g.

I used one of these receiver blocks in a micro plane with no problems & as there is 2 motor speed controllers the plane I made was a micro cessna bobcat style with one motor in the nose & one in the tail.
So use the receiver it should be O.K

some advices here ? are 10g thrust a little much ? or is this fine..

overall weight should something about 25g if im right..

im very thankfull for any tips where to buy the motor, and if the shop have the fittin motor to this would be more fine, cause of the savin shippin costs

Bit of a problem with your choice I'm afraid these are 3D models and have been designed with a better than 1:1 power to weight ratio in mind so 10g of thrust would most likely barely drag them to the ground I'm afraid, 3D planes are designed to be draggy so they fly slowly.

I don't understand German I'm afraid, not even the Swiss version, but you'd be after a motor that can provide 30g of thrust or more. Have a look at www.flying-kit.com, they sell 7mm pager motor/gearboxes, I've got two and they give over 30g of thrust on a regular 70mAh minium cell so should give more with a higher capacity lipo. Postage from this site is a little slow (2 weeks) but as it's free I can live with that.

As an alternative, have a look in the scratchbuilt foamies section, there's a thread called 'free plans', a guy called chris3d designed a really nice Pitts Special that would work with your gear, I've built several ranging in size from the original 30cm, up to 60cm and down to 15cm and all have been great little planes. It was designed for balsa so the fuse is in two halves but if you make it out of foam you can join the turtle decks behind the cockpit and save yourself a glue joint.

THIS MOTOR should have enough thrust with THIS PROPELLERS or isnt this what is required in the specs... am not sure here...

That's the same motor, just a bit more expensive. Robotbirds did have the donuts micros but i don't know if they have any left.

E-mail them about the P&P for the nano planes, the guy in the local model shop bought one and paid a lot less for the postage than their standard kit shipping fee.

Nice looking litle plane in the flesh, though they come with no instructions and the foam can be quite badly bent. Do a search and you'll find some methods for straightening it, as well as the build instructions.

did i need that ESC OR is one in the 5in1 i already got ?
