elevator on head

Hello,

New to gyros but have been flying fixed wing for several years. I picked up an electric pusher with horizontal stab and rudder, Ailerons and elevator are on the tilt head. My question is if I pull up elevator should the head tilt forward or back?

Thanks for any info,
Bill

Hey Bill,
First thing, a picture would be great so we know which model you are talking about.

But the answer to your question is the blades should lean back when you pull the elevator "up".

Hi Mickey.

A question on rotor disc loading .If the loading is calculated by 3.14 x radius squared (expressed in sq ft ) then the answer divided into the auw (in ozs), How come the rotor chord is not taken into account ?
Could it be a broard chord rotates slower ,and a narrow chord rotates faster ,resulting in a similar resultant lift ? or does the calculation assume a mean average chord ?

Tom.

It is just a rough metric. I tend to compute wing loading per blade, not just the swept area. So a 3 blade at 3.75 ounces/sq foot is loaded about the same as a 2 blade at 2.5 ounces/sq foot.

Did anyone ever build an indoor slow-fly autogyro? Something like an Ember or Night Vapor with a rotor?

I have a large rudder/elevator twin autogyro that has flown many times before but I have recently changed the blades from very rough balsa/dowel symmetrical ones to much nicer symmetrical balsa blades and now it's not doing so good. I built it years ago without much knowledge or experience however it flew very well, amazing all who saw it.

The original had a blade angle of -8° and a rotor angle of +8° (relative to the fuse). Dihedral was about 10°. I've read somewhere that symmetrical blade pitch should be at 0° but haven't found any confirmation of this. The new blades have the same angle but they are proper airfoils. I'm not sure why I chose -8° originally but perhaps 3-5° would work better?

Is there an optimum blade pitch angle for symmetrical blades and an optimum rotor angle?

Hello all!
Am wondering how many rpm (app.) autogyro models have? With two or three bladed rotor. I know that real ones have about 400 rpm to fly.

So, Ive been pondering the idea to try and build an autogyro after my last build was such a success.
Annular Wing; Flying Garbage Can (1 min 6 sec)
I am becoming very fascinated with experimental rc aircraft. I was wondering if you could replace the rotor blades with a 4 bladed or 3 bladed plane prop of the same size?
