Where to buy a JW

This is to announce the new website where you can buy a JW glider kit:

www.jwglider.com (or use jwglider.bigcartel.com if you cannot connect to the website)

This is also to announce that the JW project has changed hands. L2Airframes (Jason and Bill) have sold the JW project to me (Aaron). I can be reached at the following email address:

jwglider@surfergraphics.com

I own Surfer Graphics Inc in Ventura, CA. The JW project is now produced and sold by Surfer Graphics Inc through our website www.jwglider.com. International shipping is available. We have kits available for immediate delivery and are in the process of completing a large number of kits so there will be no delays in receiving your new JW.

This transition of the JW project was 2 years in the making and I am very proud to carry the torch now. My production shop is completely set up to produce the JW kits as well as quickly ship any orders. The new website is easy to use and all payments are processed through our PayPal site. You do NOT have to have a PayPal account as it lets you enter 1-time credit card information during checkout.

Will Call is available at our Ventura, CA location so let me know ahead of time if you wish to will call your order.

Shipping and handling discount apply on multiple kit orders (i.e. order more than one kit at same time for savings, mix and match)

Please review the website. The previous JW configurations are available as well as a new ultralight version for the low-wind and VPTR guys. I have named the various configurations as UL / Classic / Pro / DS Special to clear up any ambiguity.

I will be adding options in the near future, such as tape and preprinted self adhesive wing skins to make construction quick and easy. The California Special version is officially cancelled and will no longer be produced (the one with an airfoil that didn't work with the planform). All models continue to use the traditional JW airfoil.

The planes are the same high quality JW's that L2Airframes produced. They are made with the exact same materials on the exact same equipment and shipped in the same kit boxes. Rest assured!

I look forward to seeing some shiny new dubs, let me know what you need.

Aaron

Nice job Aaron.

Do the current jw's use the same airfoil as the original bowman kits?
I've been told they're not the same.

Sort of correct. Pat Bowman hand cut the original JW cores. They are now made by a CNC hotwire. See this post below.

If anyone has an original kit I'd be happy to compare the two.

Thanks Stu,

Doesn't really say if the foil is actually the same or if the trailing edge taper is different or what....

I have an old bowman kit that I love. Flies great, I didn't build it though, so I'm trying to figure if the build is just better or the airfoil difference is what makes it fly so nice.

Congratulations Aaron

Im happy to see that the JW is still being taken care of, and that you are enjoying the anticipation of more flying. I heard you had some interesting color options. If you could share some pictures of that.
Good luck Aaron

We are very pleased to have Aaron take over the JW. Aaron came down to pick up all the cnc equipment, fixtures and supplies that Bill and I have perfected over the years about a week ago. It was only about 2 days when he called me and I could hear the sweet purr of the CNC foam cutter running in the background. He is doing an excellent job of carrying the JW torch into the future and giving this classic model a shot in the arm of enthusiasm! Aaron has all kinds of great ideas to improve the the JW while still staying as true as possible to the original design. When Bill and I receiced the JW from Pat Bowman we were extremely careful to reproduce the model as close as possible to what Pat B and Joe W had originally designed. Aaron and I have exchanged many phone calls and the request is always the same, he wants to make sure he continues to manufacture the JW exactly the same at it always has been. Go Aaron!

The moulded JW is on hold at the moment. Send me a pm if you would be interested in one and I will start a waiting list. The long term plan is to have moulded JWs available in quantity for immediate shipment if the interest is there.
