Nex-5R Intervalometer

Hi Guys,

Just done a round of testing on my Y6 with the intervalometer app.

The stills are awful, blurred and overexposed, compared to my manually shot stills using the same shutter priority settings.

Any ideas? It seems the app is only for perfectly still (tripod) situations?

Experiment with alternative exposure modes, such as full auto or even aperture priority until you find something that works.

I will but its strange that with the exact same settings the stills taken via the IR shuuter control are great!

I just use the IR shutter on mine, and have a StratoSnapper setup to trigger it from the transmitter. Delay is programmed via USB and it'l keep taking pictures all the time you hold the switch that way.

It seems that the intervalometer app does not in gauge the autofocus like it does when I use the manual IR shutter. Although the exposures are now the same, each shot is out of focus. I will try manual focus next time and report back.

Sometimes, a programmed series of shots will only focus for the first shot, as you might need for 'normal' time lapse pics, so perhaps try focusing on something distant when the first shot is taken.

That could well be the case Gordon. I have just re tested in Manual focus and hey presto its working great! I will try your method next time

What's the intervalometer app you're using? Have you tried a GentLed-auto for the Nex-5?

its the Sony App - https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.c...9014_00-000003

I think the first shot sets up the focusing when you use auto Focus which is a problem as the first shot is on the ground! In Manual Focus its OK but its difficult to get a decent Manual Focus on objects within 5 metres. My IR shutter doesn't seem to work with this app either.

I can confirm that an IR shutter release doesn't work with the Sony Time-lapse app. I have purchased the stratosnapper as it does everything I want with full remote control
