Would it be of value to have both??? Is the champ better than the SCS in some ways???
It's "Cuter"

Hum, better? I have 5 Champs & 2 SCS, each one mission specific. The SCS is better for wind surfing, near vertical landings, rolls, etc. Once the motor starts pulsing, you need to land it quickly, so I only do touring flights in the first few minutes of the batt. Now the Champ is stabilized, to an extent, by design. You do have to fly it though. I will take my Champ on long touring flights to far away lands and don't worry about hitting LVC (assuming I don't get stuck downwind). With the SCS you eventually learn to read the plane far away & when you see it porpoise, it's time to cut the motor, glide back & land. I love them both. SCS is more powerful so it can carry a heavier load, such as skies, FPV, camera, etc. I limit the extra load to 20 grams.

Look at the SCS as a Champ on steroids.

I think you will enjoy both.

Thanks! I might just get both for the Summer along with my bigger Sail Planes and Delta Ray because there nice to take out on a moments notice to a smaller field and when the snow flies? I really want the Parkzone Sport Cub S BUT that can wait till the fall when I have practiced more! Thanks.

Red Sneakers nailed it spot on. They are both great planes and you won't be sorry if you buy them both. And yes, the Champ does have a cute factor that hard to resist!

The champ wins in endurance for sure, and it has a slight edge in slow flight capability... But there are so many other models out there waiting for me to buy them (whipit and pits s-1s are currently head of the line), I couldn't see blowing $90 on a champ.... maybe if there was nothing else out there I wanted....

Awesome. I always wanted a beast but heard it was just too fragile, the pitts doesn't have that problem apparently....

Every "good" RC Pilot absolutely must own at least one Bipe... I'm sure that is written in the rule book somewhere...

This is exactly what I've heard. The Pitts is suppose to be more robust structurally especially in the tail feathers.

We are on the "Mother of ALL Threads" the fountain of information for all "Good" things that fly, all derived from a little Orange and Yellow plane that goes by the name of "Champ" but should more realistically be called:

RC Airplane Crack (Highly addictive and liable to change your life)

Or maybe;

The Most Expensive $99 plane that you will ever buy...

Not in any way trying to scare you (or anyone else), but it has been my experience that if you really want something (i.e., Parkzone Sport Cub), the time to buy it is when it is definitely available. My most recent regrets are the Parkzone Albatros and S.E. 5A. I kept telling myself they were in my future, and now they stopped making them. You just never know when that will happen.

That's exactly why I just pulled the trigger on one of Horizon's boats I've had my eye on for over a year. I was going to wait until summer but realized I'd be pretty choked if it went MIA before getting a chance to grab one (more often than not, HH products go discontinued right out of the blue with no warning; the odd time something will go into their RC Outlet first at a reduced price first which will be an early warning, but those cases are in the minority),

The good news is, with this bird having just won that toy fair award, it's likely not going anywhere for a while.
