Wondering if there's anyone else in North Florida, like the Lake City area specifically, that's into flying micros and knows of any good places to fly. I've got an Su-26m, an MQX, and a larger quad that I built myself, all of which I'm still getting the hang of, and although the MQX can be flown just about anywhere, the parking lot at work is a little too small for the plane, or for the larger quad to really stretch it's "legs" But if anyone knows of any good local places, be it an open outdoor field, or even if there's any meetings at a local gymnasium that I'm not aware of, that would be awesome! I got a few guys at work in RCs, but they're more into the off road trucks and could care less about something with a prop, lol.

I'm up for meetings on the weekends if there's some local guys that meet up around here to fly! Always like meeting new people that are into the hobby, as I'm rather new to flying and can use all the advise and tips I can get

oh and I guess if anyone's on FB (who isn't nowadays really...)

I used to live up in Live Oak (45 minutes) until 2005 and still fly every time I go visit my parents every year. I usually go in the winter. There are tons of places to fly in North Florida. Keep looking and you'll find a spot. It's nothing but open country up there

We actually have a local dirt track here, and I stopped by today after work and flew my Sukhoi around some. I got some good flight time in, but in the end it was a little too windy. A good gust put me into the ground and snapped my tail fin for the last time... It's been glued back together about 3 times already; time to grab a styrofoam plate and whip up a new one I love this crazy little plane, lol

Yuuup, those plates are made of depron so they're perfect. In Miami it's always windy so I've been reluctant to pick up small models. That UMX Beast does look awesome though

I don't think I'll be doing any flying at all this week. AWESOME weather we're having

plus, I absolutely destroyed my Sukhoi on Saturday... the rudder servo gave out and jammed the rudder to full right, put me into a spin, and the plane nose dived into the ground and demolished the entire nose of the plane...

I scavenged the electronics and pieced together a flying wing out of the parts; not sure if it'll even fly though, lol

I still have my MQx though, and I can fly it around in the house, no matter what the weather is outisde

I think the entire South-Easters U.S. is flooded after this weekend. lol

I hope the weather clears by next weekend I have some flying to do on Saturday

yeah it's been pretty bad... we've been having a lot of people call in from work just because they simply cannot make it. either their drive way or road to their house is COMPLETELY flooded out...

when I pulled into work this morning, the parking area was almost completely flooded out and no one wanted to park in it (I don't blame them), but I spotted a little grassy patch and decided to claim it as my little island to park on, lol

so now that things are starting to dry up, what's everyone doing for the 4th? just found out that the fireworks are off here by the lake in Lake City, which really sucks because I'm pretty much right on the lake; we always have people come over and just prop a chair in the front yard and watch the show, lol. not this year... it's being held at the fair grounds now...

I've thinking about strapping some sparklers to my quad and buzzing around in the front yard around dusk though, lol, should make for an interesting show

I'm close by you. My dad had an accident and I came to Gainesville to be with him. I've been here 5 days and I'm leaving for Miami in 15 minutes. I checked out Hobbytown on Newberry, not bad. I might be back this month to see him again

Yeah their store on Newberry is a little larger than the old one that was on Archer. It's a pretty decent store, depending on what you're needing I guess.

so how's everybody been coping with the weather? and by weather I mean heat, humidity, and rain Florida is HORRIBLE this time of the year for this hobby...

Ahh, this is my old stomping ground. I went to school at UF. I remember racing at a local track there. I would love to come back and visit. It would be a nice place to live if I could ever move back to Florida. I miss the Waldo flea market.
