I'm watching Storage Wars, waiting for some RC aircraft to show up in one.

I've had Deans fail as well...on batteries that I bought second hand that were not properly soldered. They can be tricky to solder with heavy gauge wire if you don't have at least a 40 watt iron. Solder joints can get brittle over time as well, but usually the battery will wear out before that happens. So I can certainly understand the attraction of power poles.

Bullets, Deans, Anderson, they all work fine if you are careful and inspect everything from time to time, which is really all you can ask.

Slightly closer to being on topic, Banana hobby sent me a 4500 4S 55C Genesis Power battery to try out (comes with a Deans-style connector on it ). I'm looking forward to comparing it to my current favorite, the 4400 mah 4S 40C Sky LiPo. It's certainly much heavier than the Sky LiPo, so we'll see how the power is.

I want to make sure everything is right on it and that takes a little time. You've seen how slowly I pick the airplane over. Fee free to come over and provide moral support.

Sealing gaps

Anyone sealing gaps anymore?
I have for a long time sealed the aileron and elevator hinge gaps (and at times rudder) on models using tape but of recently Blenderm tape. I'm sure current modern manufacturing advances may not require this but I do use it if I have stuffed up the hinges from bending over the control surface too far then after gluing finding I have gap I could drive a truck through.lol

My 60" Edge didn't have sealed gaps for the first 5 flights. Then I sealed them... it definately made a difference. Way more control response, and it seemed a lot more lift and more precise control as well. It doesn't need it, but it sure helps.
