320-360mm quad, version A3, inc. scale drawings

Here is my custom 320mm quad, including printable 1:1 drawings on A4 paper.
Can be a 320 or 360mm motor-to-motor, the 320mm version can fit up to 8" props, the 360mm can go up to 9.5"
Recommended motors for the 320 are up to 2208, and up to 2212 for the 360.
Can easily lift a Gopro and it's casing and a FPV setup.
Total weight with 3S-2200 battery and no camera : 690 grams
Frame weight alone is about 150 grams.

Nothing revolutionary, just I made sure to make it tought and light.
I designed it to get as few things as possible in the air flow.
And as few screws as possible for assembly.

Very easy to make, only require a 300x100x1.5mm woven carbon sheet (link)
About 1.5 meter of 10x10x1mm aluminium for 2 full sets of arms but so far I never managed to break one.
And a small lenght of 10x10x1 aluminium angle (corner) for the rails.
And few M3 screws and M3 nylon spacers, and some patience to cut the carbon with a saw :]

Below the drawings are photos and videos so you can see how it flies.

It's currently fitted with :

Motors : Tigers MT2208-18 1100kV (link)
ESCs : Tigers T30A (oversized) (link)
Propellers : HPprop 8x4.5MR or HQProp 8x5 (Graupner shape) (link)
Battery when FPV : 3S-2200mAh 35C (link)
Battery when line-of-sight : 3S or 4S-1800mAh 25C or 5S-1500mAh 20C (ridiculously overkill)
Flight controller : HK clone of the Crius AIOP, running Multiwii 2.3 (link)
FPV : Boscam 5.8GHz 250mW and Spironet antenna (link)

Current version, 320mm, FPV gear and a Gopro3 :

Landing gears are for pussies :

As 360mm with DJI 2212 motors :

Linking the ESCs by pairs...

Receiver is a FRSKY TFR6, FASST compatible with my Futaba 14SG :

Now the bottom plate and the camera plate are only one :

Then I put the FC into a box, for better protection :

It flies like this :

Quadcopter Mini - Turbo Boost ! (1 min 47 sec)

Quadcopter Mini - La Ruchere (3 min 13 sec)

Quadcopter Mini - Saint Meme (Crash) (2 min 20 sec)

And it's crashing like that :

Quad Mini - Slow-motion 240FPS, with crashes (2 min 0 sec)

Quad Mini FPV - Crash and re-crash (2 min 28 sec)

And that was the first 2 battery cycles with the FPV gear few days ago, it's bonkers to fly.

Quad Mini FPV - First FPV flights (4 min 42 sec)

Thanks !

Right now I'm build a new version "A4", for LOS acro only, lighter and even simpler.
Weight of the frame only is 93gr.

More photos, and first flight.
Including the reflective bits under the props for the "light rings" !
Simplified the wiring to the max, 3 ESCs are on a single plug, just the signal.
The female JR is to supply the LED strips.

Weight is 630gr with a 3S-2200mAh or a 4S-1800mAh.
Not counting the LEDs, that should be like 10 or 20gr maybe.

Quad mini - Version A4, maiden (1 min 33 sec)

Nice, good flyer. Lots of power and good tracking. Any idea of flight times yet?
I use a Warthox frame with rct 2212-10 1400kv on 9x5 props 3s for my acro quad. My flight times are abysmal on 2200mha. A mere 3 and a half minutes of hard flying.

Ouch 3.5 minutes indeed there's a problem.

My radio is beeping after 8 minutes, got a timer counting when throttle is >10%, I take my time after the first beeps and land near 9 minutes.
The resting voltage is then a safe 3.75-3.80V/cell, so I guess with some proper telemetry I could get between 10 and 11 minutes easy.
But I didn't feel like putting a telemetry receiver on an acro quad

I get about the same times with either the 3S-2200mAh and the 4S-1800mAh.

Thats a lot better. The motors i am using are actually airplane motors. They do pack a lot of punch in a small package: 205w on 50gr but they seem so power hungry. I got another heavier quad with the same style motors. The 2836/11 750KV at 71gr. 9 min time. I used these on various builds with great success. No vibrations and very reliable. I thought i would give there smaller cousins a try. Seems to be a wrong bet. Not a real problem. I will just replace them with Flyduino X2208 1100KV i think. These seem to be more efficient.

I'm a bit surprised by such low fly time, of course there's variations in efficiencies for motors, but it's not huge gaps.
What's the voltage per cell at the end of the flight ?

I was shocked by the flight time.. Expected 6 min at least.
About 3.8 volt in rest. Conservative but safe idd.
UAW is 840gr
Lift at 30%
In its defence. It is a rocket at full trust.

The max comsumption of one Motor with 5S and 8by5 Prop is 400Watt but the Motors are only rated for 180Watts. (according to ecalc)

maybe, but you never reach 400w anyway, the motors are never at full load, it's not static benchmarking, and also at full power it climbs at like 60km/h, you only have 3 seconds top before it's out of sight

Hi Olivier_c

I'm loving this little quad you have designed, thank you for posting the plans for it. I'm thinking of making it and using the Sunnysky 2212 - 980kv motor with a 9inch prop.

My question is do you think this set up would have enough power to lift a GoPro and gimbal which weigh around 260g?
I would really appreciate you opinion.

Thanks
