I don't know if its any harder on mode 1.
Don't let the others make you think your doing something fundamentally wrong by using expo. Some don't like it, some do.
Helicopters, and there setup varies greatly, might as well adjust it to fly how you like it.
If you search some of the top pilots setups you'll see that most use expo. And most use a
larger amount on the rudder. Also, they use different amounts on similar sized helicopters setup slightly different.
Typical numbers I see are 15 to 20% on cyclic, while several are above 35%.

Tell you what, at least turn it down from 30! And try this on the sim first. Take those side by side tic tocs at 30, then drop down to 10 or even 0, and watch what happens. Alot of this depends on too many variables. TX and gymbal sensitivity and wear. Servo speed. Even his genetics play a factor here. As does the fbl controller itself. Blades, and setup.

LMH - I have dropped the exp to 0 on my sim i did notice the difference.
I belive there is so many factors involved here.. Servo speed, HS, Expo, Pitch and my skills. From everyones input its not just 1 factor.
Once I sort out my electronics and the weather permits I'll drop my expo to 15-20% on the cyclics and see what happens.
Also... my heli is NOT an FBL setup. I'm still ol'school
