Would this work as FPV Monitor.

Seen these on ebay.

Not my line but it seems to me as if they should/might work as a monitor from video receiver????

Not very well. It is mirror image reversed! Note where it says, "Reversed rear view." That's exactly what it is, a mirror image.

It's also a bit small.

I didnt really pick the best one as an example. There are also 7" ones on ebay for 25 and others where you can change the image view sothey can be used as dvd monitors etc.

I am using a 4" monitor at present, too small in my opinion. Many of those auto monitors have a switch to reverse the image.

unless someones tried the specific monitor, you wont know if it bluescreens till after you buy it. that could be an issue.

I do really like this one! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=251267629702
I don't own it jet, a friend of my does, so I can't tell about the blue screen. But it has 800x480 resolution and is a bit bigger which makes it better to look at.

I don't care about the blue screen that much. Just be sure your antennas are really good.

no antennas are that good. unless you have a directional antenna, its only a matter of time before you fly over yourself and fall into the signal void. Monitor goes blue, and in many cases, it will never reach the signal threshold to ever resume showing the picture...

simply put, blue screen is a deal breaker unless its a backup monitor or something. Every pilot needs atleast 1 monitor that is gaurenteed to show static.

When you crash because of a BSOD you will think different. I have backup monitor that doesn't blue screen and neither do my Fat Sharks. One Off field landing (read crash) 2 Km away convinced me.

My understanding and what I personally have experienced by placing a DVR between the RX and the Monitor fixes the Bluescreen problem. The DVR will keep the monitor from blue screening.

That is one of the solutions. I did that as an interim fix until acquiring a monitor that doesn't blue screen. It does introduce another point of failure if the DVR malfunctions. (I experienced this and it went blue screen)

My setup actually has three screens that can be used to get the aircraft home. The Video Tx goes to a video splitter--out of that I run a 7" no blue screen monitor, Fat Sharks, and a DVR with a 2.5" screen. I sometimes throw on a 4" backup monitor I made into homemade goggles for a spectator. Only downside it does go blue screen.

All the above equipment is run off car start booster battery that runs for a long time. I charge it about 3 to 4 times a flying season.

All this may sound like over kill but I have found it to be very reliable and that's the name of the game.

I bought a 4.3" reversing monitor...
They are set to show a reverse picture when you select reverve gear but normal when watching a DVD or whatever.

Quite a good picture but at the moment I need something cheap to sent and receive the signal.

I'm using a Panasonic 9", it will run off 3s lipo, comes with shade and very bright. Also has circuitry to prevent blue screen and you can usually get them here or eBay around $45-55. I have used this one for 9mos, probably 100hrs still going strong.

Has anyone tried much larger screens, it seems to me 7" is just really small and would not be much better to look at than my current 4.5" hobbyking monitor
i have been looking for cheap tv / monitor with the correct inputs and that runs from 12v and i have came across some samsung TV's that seem to fit the bill, smallest one is 19"
i am thinking that mounted to a tripod, with a 12v pack running it?
or is there a reason i dont see anyone running larger screens than about 10"?
