Terminology aside it will depend on the boat's weight, prop and speed. Start with the CG 32% forward measured from the sponson transoms - not from the extreme rear of the boat.

That works out to be 13-1/4" from the very back of the boat (transom).

Okay I guess a terminology lesson is in order, but maybe not. "The very back of the boat" is not the transom. The Genesis hull has an overhang for the rudder mount - the sponson transoms are at least four inches ahead of the "very back of the boat". See the photo below.

so how would you set your batteries do you center them on the 13 1/4 line or do you set them in front of your line or behind your cog line?

I have a Genesis & never bothered working this out.

I went to the lake ran the boat then brought it in & adjusted the battery position to suit.

Here is the result..........
First run of Genesis after rebuild (0 min 0 sec)

Mark the hull (both sides of hatch opening) at 13-1/4" from back. Put batteries in, lift hull at the marks, see which way you need to relocate batteries to get it to balance level. This is a good starting point, you'll be close.
