Awesome! Thanks! A little pricey but I guess I can get a few cores out of it!

Send him a PM, I'm sure he'd give you some details, or maybe he could post it up here.

Hi Wim5150,

My so-called Weasel is hotwire cut out of high density white styrofoam. The wingspan is 28" and the airfoil adopted is from a Weasel 3-view drawing that came with a Thai RC magazine.

I have built 3 models with 2 different setup. The one shown in the previously posted pictures is having a cheap 18mm outrunner 3000kv motor on 2S 200mah Lipo and 6amps ESC. An old Graupner 4.5" folding prop system goes along with it. This is a lighter setup and not very powerful, but a real treat to fly in comfined spaces.

The 2nd and 3rd model uses JT C18 2000kv (11.4g) outrunner on GWS 5x4.3 props, 6amps ESC and 2S 350mah Lipo. More power and yet still as agile.

On mine I actually bought a 4 aaa holder from radio shack for like 1.79 or something like that. I then taped all the way around the batteries and added a tiny bit of hot glue so they didn't move in the holder. The holder had 2 wires coming off of it. If you don't you that then you could solder them up yourself as well. Mine is a 2x2 holder so it make a rectangle. The also have 4 flat as well. hope that helps.

This is my pack I pulled from my Wiesel without its strapping tape covering. It's been through a lot. Including two dunkings in Lake Michigan. It is AAA Ni-mah from a big box store and I use these in all my gliders. I have not had one fail yet through three seasons of use. I am sure this is not the correct way.. but this is how I have done it.

1. hot glue batteries in your desired pack shape.
2. use a few strands of strapping tape to hold them together.
3. pre-solder each cell end. (I use basic flux-core solder) Apply the solder to the where the iron tip meets the cell. the solder will melt on the iron and then pool on the cell end. You will see when the that little lump of solder flattens onto the cell end... stop there.
4. strip a wire about one inch and solder the whole stripped part.
5. solder pre-soldered wire to pre-soldered ends of of cells holding onto insulated part of wire. Press the iron on the wire and it will sink into the solder on the cell.
6. trim extra wire off. (I use an old scissors)
7. pre-solder a connector of choice and solder the two final cell ends.
8. wipe off all solder points with damp rag.
9. tape it up

Okay, thanks guys.

Now, what i have done is hooked up diodes in series on a connector for my RX and was going to try to run off of a 2s lipo, and those diodes dropped the voltage down to 6.4V. But, when i plugged it up to my RX, the servos just would jitter everywhere when i gave it input. then i hooked the RX up to an esc off of another plane and no jitter, this esc puts out 4.97V. Was this caused by too much voltage? I have the 5G servos, and a 72mHz GWS RX.

I was thinking of getting a 5V regulator from Radioshack, or should i just go for the 4AAA's? wont they give me above 6V anyways?

Oh and since i can't get any foam right now This is the little thing i slapped together yesterday in about 45mins. Thought yall would enjoy the silly looking thing.

30" wingspan and about an 8 1/2" Chord

Your going to have to do 1 of 3 things, use 4 AAA rechargeable batteries or you could use an ESC and just not use the motor wires because of no motor, the ESC with power the servos or lastly you could get a UBEC. Ubecs will drop the voltage of a lipo down to useable voltage for the servos. Problem I see at least for the Wisel is that you actually need all the weight you can get to get it balanced out. If you take of the 4 AAA batteries your going to have to make up the weight plus some to balance. If you have an ESC and a lipo then you could use that and just add alot of lead without buying anything besides the lead. So it really depends on what you want to do. The 4 AAA give you right close to 5 volts (1.2volts per cell), most servos are rated for 4.8 to 6 volts, some can run more. On some planes you can use a ubec or esc but on this one you need the weight anyway. Hope that helps.

Okay thanks! I think i will do the 4 AAA's and i'll try to find two battery holders for 2 AAA's each so i can mount them on each side of my fuse.

Well, i got everything wired up in the Plankette (That's what i've named this ugly thing ) and my AUW comes to 7.74oz. not too bad, that gives me a loading of 4.5oz/sq.ft. if i've done my calculations right!

I'll go try to do some flying test once my TX has juice in it. i lucked out and didnt have to add any lead, the CG seems to be pretty spot on with everything where it is.

Nice, Seth! Is that the "Armin" wing technique? Been meaning to try that for an "instant sloper"....but something's always eating up my time.

Remember....veeery small elevator throws for the maiden on a plank! Good luck!

(that build thread of mine sould be back on track soon )

Thanks and yes it is, that whole thing literally took me about 45 mins to throw together, maybe that long. I tried it today at the field (just tossing it because I haven't found any slopes yet) and I get almost no up elevator reaction, and it seems that the cg is okay since it glides fine.. maybe it is too nose heavy?
