Buc Ulb, the backwards flying BluCub

I've had so many questions, both at E-Fest and JR-Fest, I figured I'd post a link to the post, buried in the BluCub thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...85#post3838585

Video: http://www.genebond.rchomepage.com/v...b%20Maiden.wmv

It's funny to watch the other planes in the air loose control as they catch a quick look of the Cub going backwards down the flight line

They always ask if it's a variable pitch prop, and will it fly forwards... No, it was designed as a Canard! I just made it look like a Cub

Maybe I should do a P-51

that's great. I'd pay money to see it done with a cub done in scale like fashion

is there no stability problem due to the large rudder-volume so far on the "wrong" side???

Yes, there is

I added 'tip floats' as V-Stab area on the main wing to settle it down. Nobody really notices

It'd be cool to have a full fuse and landing gear, etc, but there's other problems associated... the rudder would be a bear, and landing gear incidence would not look scale.

One (of the many) thing that's funny, is when I'm hand lanching it, several times a guy will yell out, 'hey, you're launching it backwards!'

Gene, that is too funny. Very creative, I'd love to watch the faces as it flies away!.

Tony

PS: How does it fly?

It hurts my brain every time I see it. I was flying at E Fest at the same time as Gene was flying the Cub and everytime it went by me I had the same reaction. What you need to add is a pilot looking backwards.

Trike gear would be neat, I guess that would be called a nose dragger on the Buc Ulb. This looks like a fun plane, will you be posting plans?

That's great Gene! Are you sure you are not just running the film backwards?
