I've got a 1200mm custom X4 fitted with T-motor U8-170 and two piece 28" T-Motor props. I'm not happy with using a two piece propeller for numerous reasons, the least of which is the difficulty in checking balance. Safety factors are also a serious concern. I'm very interested in testing your 1 piece 28" props.

Hello glassfox,

I would be happy to review your propellers. Also to see if I can beat my own record with them:
129min 15sec flighttime (3 min 41 sec)

since the propellers are 70gr I could save 120gr in total

Or to compare with payload (2kg):
Z15 Video blog: 2014-03-01 47min flight with Zenmuse (4 min 44 sec)

If I shall test on the quad I would need 2 pairs, if I shall test with the X8 I will need 4 pairs.

best regards
Ferdinand

I would like to try them on this Y6. Could not get it to fly proper, probably because of the current propellers, they are a bit to heavy for the motors/flight controller to respond fast enough.
Now using the 120 gram Foxtech 26 inch, which run fine, but probably they are less suitable in this setup and need another FC or bigger motors combined with this machine/propellers.... or lighter propellers.
Maiden Y6 (2 min 59 sec)

Also running Quads with the 26" props, vid will follow later.

Kind regards, Aldert

I am sure you can get much more efficiency if your motor fits the 2880

we get 5.5 kg max thrust with U8 KV170 and 2880
as soon as we finish the DEVOURER final version .
we will make more load or long fly vids.

Unfortunately we do not. Our craft are designed to carry specialized sensors not associated with typical film making and commercial video. I would be disappointed if that would disqualify but I cannot be more specific than that.

Is there someone who already used these props? I would really like to know if they make a difference.
I've tested several props, and till now I am not very happy with the way the machine flies. I was going to try ESC with active breaking, but at this moment I have to gain some trust in this motor/prop combo.
Even had a crash this Sunday. Can not remember the last time I crashed (except for the mini's, but they are build to crash ). I have it on vid, coincidentally I had the i-phone recording. Not very clear, but you can see how the machine rolled over.

During flight mostly it flies good. Looks stable. But sometimes especially in hover, it starts with some kind of toilet bowl, and sometimes the machine takes a while to recover from the toilet bowl to the stable hover.
Here is the crash:
Y6 crash (2 min 4 sec)

@Aaalie
From the distance it is hard to say, but it look like a motor failure (esc loosing sync?)

The other stuff is Y6 behavior. With the DJI suggested mixer (top CCW bottom CW) it will never be stable on yaw, better will be

Top
CW CCW
CCW
Bottom
CCW CW
CW

You just need to connect your Motors accordingly to the FC.
But an Y6 is never a good choice (from my point of view).

Also the distance from top propeller to bottom propeller is very big, the closer they are together, the better they work.

What ESCs you are using? What Gains?

Whatever happend, it is not related to the props.

best regards
Ferdinand

Thank you Ferdinand. It was meant to mount the motors with this distance, benchtest showed a much better efficiency with more distance between motors/propellers.
ESC is K-force 40 amps on 6S lipo. Used to run it with SK flashed F40A. With the F40A the machine recovered much faster from the toilet bowl.
Hugo is now experimenting with the active RPM/Breaking esc for this machine. The machine is already repaired, but by now I'm patiently waiting for more experience from others with this motors/prop combinations (watching you closely ).

Naza, basic 140-140-160-200
atti gains 110-110

From my point of view, your basic gains are too low, it should be somewhere near 300 for Roll and Nick. E.g. 300, 300, 130, 150 atti 80 80 if the SK-ESC work, the basic gains (for roll and nick) can eve be higher. If the copter is not stable on yaw at low gains, something else is wrong.

From my point of view, the "toilette bowl" is caused by the yaw imbalance (CCW on top and CW on bottom, even amplified by the large distance between the propellers). You (or the FC) gives an (e.g. roll) correction command, but it also has a yaw side-effect which has to be corrected (...).

best regards
Ferdinand

Thank you Ferdinand.
The quad has exactly the same toilet bowl, maybe even worse. Gains I will look at, it runs with a WKM, and remote gains.

I will mount the SK esc's, adjust the gains, change the CW/CCW and will fly again.

(I understand the Y6 is not always a good choice. I do not know why, but my personal favor is the Y6).
