Shielded NAZA and WKM GPS Protectors
I built this device after one of my LI-po Batts died in mid-air. The quad rolled over and landed directly on the GPS device and shattered the ant inside. I had to purchase another NAZA GPS to replace it for another $160 +-
Another thing that annoyed me was that the OEM stand had to be glued in place so if it ever broke I had to search all over to find a replacement. If you glued the device it was also a pain to rotate it when you moved to different geographical locations.
So I designed the GPS protector. This device provides protection for your WKM or NAZA GPS devices, Allows rotation up to 360%. Gives you a place to coil the wire that connects the GPS. Also is easily replaced and mounted (Only one mounting hole is needed)

That copper shielding around the sides very much affects the tuning of the GPS antenna in a bad way. You may only notice in frnge areas but you will notice. If the shielding were made such that it were only at the bottom of the antenna it would cause no ill affects and might help a little as far as RFI shielding goes. Shielding on the sides though not good.
Nice product otherwise. I'm planning on getting a couple.

No experimental evidence--just theoretical. I recently purchased a MR that came with the Naza GPS and this mount w/ copper. I removed the copper from it, though. I like the mount, otherwise.
The copper is a partial Faraday cage around the receiver, and GPS signals come in from angles as low as the horizon. Some of those signals will be blocked by the surrounding copper on the sides. As to how much this will affect real-world performance of the GPS, I don't know. But I don't see it helping. Since GPS operates in the 1.2-1.6GHz range, you're not going to get any interference from 2.4GHz radios, and the engine noise is very low frequency compared to the GPS so it's not going to cause any problems either.

My theory is that it will not help with our usual 2.4 or 5.8 RF but many are using lower freq like 1.2, 1.3 and one device I keep hearing about it helping with is the gopro. I cannot seem to find anything about what freq would be coming from it. I wouldn't think the gopro would cause any issues but enough people are saying it does to warrant a look
