I remember these when they were new.... They are each hand built and finished by the craftsman himself

The sexiest thing I ever saw when I saw Don Chauncey's in about 1983ish...

Thanks Alvaro! This was like the Freestyler of it's day! There used to be a lot more diversity of models back then. Personally I like the Comet 88 for a really slick looking airplane. The 89T fuselage was just too big for my hands and I could never get a great throw with that model. My friends Manny Tau and Don Edberg both flew them. If I recall, they cost around $1400 back in the day..not cheap!

I wish T-tails were more popular today, they sure are pretty.

I loved my 89T ... was a 90 ounce beast, but was still able to win a TD contest or two with it. We brought 3 of them into the US and they ran about $750 each ... really cheap for the craftsmanship.

Hans Mueller was doing some very innovative stuff back then. Wet spars inside of white foam with veneer skins.

Mark, you probably remember how many airplanes used his 14mm CF wing rods! They too were works of art. Good times

Yep .... very "universal" joiner. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago!

I still have mine tucked into the box he shipped it to me in. A work of art for the period. Now that 2.4 is in play its an easy conversion with all the Kevlar.

I'll have to pull her out of the deep sleep she is in. Maybe this weekend.

That's an odd Comet Mr Kite! Wing bolts to the top of the fuse, flat center section.

I had an '88 "special", wings thru the fuse with the same joiner as the '89, '91 and King, same polyhedral and tail as yours. I think I still have one small piece of my King in the shop somewhere.
