The Sonic ***NOW AVAILABLE!!***

I have acquired the tooling for the old Bowman Sonic and will be making the plane available on jwglider.com soon. The plane will be kept faithful to the original design, so I know a bunch of you will be happy to have the plane available again!

***EDIT***
The Sonic is now available at www.jwglider.com. It comes in 2 flavors: the Classic for all around performance and light wind slopes; the Pro for high wind and record chasing. It builds fast but is strong and high performance. Get a little slice of DS history with the Sonic!

Sonic - Reborn and Better Than Ever! (0 min 32 sec)

Cool. Looks like a very fun model.

AustinTatious I haven't seen you for ages! I still think of you every time I stick lead in wing tips

Hey Aero!
What sort of time frame you looking at?
I might have to round up the Oz crew and look at putting in a group order.

Wow, that brings back some memories. My first DS turn was with that wing. How is Pat, anyway?

Any serious consideration to having a less draggy central fin, a la Halfpipe, like Mr Deputy mentioned? Looks better too.

I don't know about centre fins on chevrons. they lose a bit of drag yes, but also lose yaw stability due to the fin being so far forward. Two very thin bagged balsa tiplets would be a good compromise IMO.
Cheers

I have experimented with center fins on chevron wings for some time, and have concluded that there are benefits to the center fin arrangement, but usually only when the wingtips are rounded and thinned. Leaving the tiplets off stock squared wingtips usually compromises yaw stability and bit and does not significantly reduce drag IME. YMMV.
