Old Fogeski or Fogeyski. New video in post#7.

I've been thinking about this for a while but couldn't figger a way to make skis big enough to float on powder, yet small enough to fly without contributing too much to lift and 'control'.
Now that Winter is losing its grip, we got some thaw freeze action which left my field with a nice crust on it so I made my Fogey some skis.

Here's some taxi practise.
Taxi practise, I didn't cut the bit at the end! (0 min 28 sec)

Here's my first takeoff ever. I've left some room for improvement!
Good thing I've got a turbo Fogey!
Dodgy takeoff (0 min 9 sec)

Hmmm takeoff, sweet landing (0 min 34 sec)

Better takeoff, I'm getting this. (0 min 27 sec)

It's funny, when you think of it, flying off grass with a plane the size of most of our foamies is like a full size plane taking off from a cornfield or cane field! Flying off snow is close to scale surface as one can get!

Never thought of it like that. The snow sure is smooth!
When I get to grass i'm going to have enormous wheels so not scale I guess.

Thanks Al, I was pretty happy with it.
I took the Bix3 out too.
That thing is a speed demon compared to the Fogey!

Switching models isn't something I do well at this point. I also landed the Bix3 fairly nicely.

Another video

I had a cameralady today and we went out in the snow to see how the Fogeski does as a bush plane!
Too windy.
A small amount of snow over the ice makes the skis not work so well.

Fogeski in the snow (1 min 22 sec)

Very good control considering the wind !

For soft snow you could try a single wide sled type of landing gear ( maybe cut from a plastic gallon milk bottle ? ) :

Thanks!

Those guys are pretty funny at times!
I've watched a bunch of their videos.
5F is -15C, wimps, I've flown in -31C or -23F.

Plastic milk jug?
Seriously?
Are you trying to add weight to my Fogey?

I think my ski days might be over for a while - it snowed quite a bit today so I'll be going back to the belly lander, but really, I think I need more time on the speed demon(Bix3).
The Fogey has taught me a lot but she's too forgiving, specially with the 9 x 5 prop and the 3S battery. I can go vertical for a bit to get out of trouble.

I need something in between for the smaller Summer field.
Your suggestions are in mind but I would like something with wheels. Right now I'm keen on RoG and landing as intended. I can make a strip in the field with the mower but it won't be a golf course green, I've got 60mm wheels coming from HK.

OK , prepare to laugh I've built a delta with "A" wheel ..... it could do ROG and touch-and-go's all day long ! And it flew really well ! I named it " Kinda Funny Lookin' " !

Also built a delta with skids for ROG , that worked well also - named it " Not Quite As Funny Lookin' " !

Big Wheel Delta take 2 (1 min 14 sec)

Big Slow Delta RC plane (4 min 50 sec)
